Hi all,

I'm currently attempting to create a replica of the agate window that the moiety use in Riven to power the dead linking books but i'm having trouble finding a good image of it to work from. The only images I could find in-game are either too distant or only partial images. Does anyone have or know where I could find a good full shot of the window? I've tried google to no success. There are a number of pictures of the real prop used in Riven that people took during the 2009 Mysterium at Cyan HQ but again no good close ups.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mystdee but I had that image from in-game as well. The problem with that particular image is the flaring in the bottom left corner. The close up view from that position is great as well but is too close and cuts off all the edges. I tried combining the two images using photoshop and while it's "ok" it's not quite what I need for my project, and again the flaring on that view isn't present on the closer view so I had to do a lot of editing to get them to merge. I'd much much much rather just have a nice detailed image to work with from the beginning.

It's not very large, but here's a pic of it.

Shorah numinous,

I've been attempting to collect images of Katran's Healing Page over the years (for a now-dormant project of mine) and have found Mysterium attendee photos to be the best place to start. Here are some of the better ones I've found. Note that they are all the full size in which I found them, so some will be rather large to view/download.

As you can see, none of them are perfect, though you may be able to cobble something together using bits and pieces. I included the really large ones (most of which aren't particularly well-photographed) so you can glean some of the detailing (I hope). The unattributed ones were found before I was being very consistent in annotating attribution information, and I haven't been able to figure out where I found them/who took them. They quite possibly are from an attendee's visit to Cyan HQ, but who has since taken down their web photos (just a guess, though...).

As a side note, every three years, Mysterium is located in the Seattle/Spokane area so that a trip to Cyan can be included in the itinerary. Thus, if you search for Mysterium photos, you'll want to focus on 2003, 2006, 2009, etc. If you know someone who will be going this year, you can ask them to take lots of photos for you!

As another side note, I'd be interested to know more about your own project. Who knows, maybe it will help to bring my own back to life... Smile

Thanks so much Ainia some of those images are pretty good and might be something I can work with. I'd looked through aa lot of mysterium photos online before but had only ever found the one PKV posted (thanks for looking though PKV). While looking through some of those Mysterium photos from 2009 though I saw aaa number of photos with RIUM+ in them with his camera out and up close and personal with the Riven props. I was able to get in contact with him and he said he had some good detailed shots of the window that he can send me but that he's actually over in Seattle atm for this years Mysterium. Maybe he'll get some more photos while he's there Smile I'll see if I can post some here when that happens.

As to my project, basically i've just got some MDF boards from a craft store, about A4 size (they're meant to be for making placemats or something). I plan to glue a stack of them together then cut to shape including the centre hole. I may use a piece of perspex in one of the layers as it appears that the 'hole' isn't just a hole but has a clear 'glass' layer in it. I'm undecided as to how to affix the actual stone image on it though. My two options are to print it out on paper and just glue that straight on, or I've seen a technique online using water soluble glue to essentially make a transfer with regular paper and a printed image (I think that is the better option personally). I may be able to carve then paint the stone edging straight out of the MDF or I may need to use some clay or plaster or some such to get a nice rock effect then pint that. Lot's of fun Smile

Shorah numinous,

While reorganizing my cluttered archives, I ran into another image that you might find helpful. This is a copy of the official Mysterium 2009 poster created by Shoomlah. Again, I'm linking to a large file so you can see all the detail.

Hi Ainia thanks again. I actually already had that image. More then that, E-Derby's (aka Shoom'lah) "Mysterium Photo Album Cover" is actually what inspired me to create me own replica. I was messaging her(?) on deviantart but as yet I haven't got a response re: the image used. I can't do anything without that :-/

Half reviving an almost dead thread here but I still haven't been able to find a good image for my project.

Ahlisendar, if you read this, you said to just email RAWA..... do you happen to have RAWA's email address on hand? I couldn't find it :-/

Numinous,

I don't know how good you are with Photoshop, but it doesn't look like it would be too hard to create the image you are looking for from scratch. How large of an image do you need, and at what resolution?

Hi Guybrush, (love the monkey island games too btw Very Happy)

I'm 'proficient' in Photoshop and have een able to cobble together a decent image of the agate window from the few images in game. My problem is I'm a bit of a perfectionist so while it looks ok it's not perfect lol. I have a few leads to full quality images but none have panned out yet. Just wanna try every avenue I can before giving up[/list]

If anyone's interested I thought I might post a couple of images that I have obtained of the agate window plus my final composite that I'll be using for my project.

This one comes direct from RAWA

The next is the image E-Derby used for her Mysterium photo frame project http://fav.me/d2b51e1

And finally the composite image I put together in Photoshop

Now that I have this hopefully it won't take me too long to complete my replica Smile
