I'm sorry if it looked like a sideswipe greydragon I was not intending to have a go at you. More an attempt to draw your attention to the futility of your situation.

The answer is there in the same posting though.

This forum as over 700 members. The Myst universe has one resource above any of the others a fan base to die for.

Without the fan base Uru would be lying dead in the gutter.

There are a number of fans here who have moderated on other forums. Yes it's nice to have a spokesperson for Cyan on the case but this forum has entries 24/7 on a global timescale.

I am not suggesting you give up the role as administrator, More like deligate some of your work to trustees.

One of the strengths of this forum is its structure the D'ni Guilds page has posting lists that run and run with no distinct sub groups or strong visable hand at the helm.

Theres no disgrace in asking for and accepting help. As administrator the power of removal of trustee status would be a powerful sanction.

Instead of using the spoon to dig your way out get yourself some willinng slaves and give them some shovels.

A member raised a question about mothly payments.

Reverend Vader fielded the question and suggested moving it to Suggestions a resonable option.

Normal moderation rules would have just moved the thread to the new location with a PM to the original poster.

No issues no pack drill just decisive action.

So over in the game section of the forum, people are industriouly talking about the way you get to play an online verions of Uru - now.

Perhaps it's not exactly what you want, but I'm so glad that it's not me who has to tell the enthusiastic group of people to go away and wait until Uru Live comes out! I thought the idea was to keep them around and then get them to move to Uru Live!

I have a small problem with this D'mala is not truly UU.

UU is the private shards which have not only D'niGuild for discussion but also their own forums.

There's room here for another forum thats D'mala and D'mala alone probably split between IC, OOC and Tech issues.

As I say every other shard has it's own forum except D'mala and there's no poll option on D'ni guilds. (thats a small asside)

D'mala issues on D'ni guild forum are being swamped in the fog of posts from all the stuff that went before.

How about it a D'mala forum would address the issue and relieve the pressure here or at least a specific section on the D'ni guilds.

Now you may ask why am I not posting this there.

The problem is here and theres no chance of there being any action till it's an issue where the problem lies.

You should edit that post to make it clear it is merely a proposal, you are a fan eager to help, but are not affiliated with Cyan in any way and cannot officially speak for them.

Are you saying D'mala doesn't need its own forum?

Theres a temptation to start an unnoficial one but it really does neet the sanction of Cyan and at least a Cyan ear to the ground in that location.

If theres enough people up for it and Cyan want to nominate a spokesman I am posative the community on D'mala would enhance it's own space.

I would rather it was Cyan calling the shots if only to keep their hands on the associated IP rights.

Hey we could run a poll on it but its off topic here and not an option on D'ni Guilds.

I posted the “forward my saved games” yesterday just before I read this post, it referred to Until URU. I am no stranger to the Myst sequel of games and have purchased and played them all starting with Myst, which I purchased about one month after the game was released. And I do understand the difference between “Until URU” and “URU Live.”

The reason I, (and I speak for myself though this may hold true for many other people here) am in this forum is to get things ready for URU Live. I assume I will be entering the on line game through my “ages beyond Myst” CD and saved game, I would hope I didn’t have to play “ages beyond Myst” again before I can get to the new ages in URU Live.

So as you see it is not Until URU I am interested in but rather being prepared for URU Live. I wish Cyan would be a little more open about what we will need rather then trying to stifle our trying to be prepared.

I do think your being a little to rigid in your thought process, I believe most of the people who post here are here in anticipation of “Live” in one way or another.

And without a doubt these postings will take care of themselves once “Live” becomes an option.

The only detail I have heard regarding your post is that no prior disk will be necessary to install the new Uru Live client and it will be a download from this website. I would be very much surprised if they provided for the restoration of saved games. Perhaps shocked. From all accounts, the Uru Live client and server software will be very different and much improved, leaving little chance for compatibility with old saved games.

The new URU live Client will have to be downloaded from Game Tap and installed
you won't be able to install from your CD or import any saved games as the code for what we have now
is different to what URU Live will be.
So sorry but we all will have to start fresh and maybe not even start at the Cleft.

JKla: Just because I posted immediately after you doesn't necessarily mean I was answering your question. As you have said yourself previously, most of the other shards already have their own private forums. Therefore to me, a Cyan-hosted Until Uru forum is implicitly a forum for D'mala, and perhaps for issues which transcend the boundaries of any one shard. However, that is my own interpretation and opinion.

baddata6: I, and I expect everyone else, want you to feel welcome. No apology was needed and you did nothing wrong by asking questions here. The moderator (greydragon) has expressed concern about the Until Uru discussions confusing new arrivals, so some of us are trying to help clear up confusion where we see it. The best way I can help is to put information at people's fingertips, and if they aren't looking in the optimal place, help point them to it. If you feel like I (or anyone else) is policing you, though... then I've overstepped my boundaries and it is I who owe an apology to you.

All: I added one more item to the proposed FAQ - a pointer to the Uru Live FAQ and to the two "Funding and the Future" meeting notes at DRCsite.org. I noted that only the Uru Live FAQ can be considered official, and that answers given by Moke are subject to change. In GD's copious spare time (*choke*) It might be worth it to move all the UU threads into a UU folder in "Off Topic" and lock them, after putting the "please take UU discussion to D'niGuild" link on the end.

Although to find them all might take a couple of volunteers to report posts.
