Cones are there for a purpose – they mean you can’t go there. In Prologue (
the earlier Uru Live test that was closed down). They were placed as you see them now in the home game – and believe me – there’s nothing behind them.
Some of the areas you see now in Uru were at first inaccessible in Prologue, and as I anticipate – it'll be the same in Uru Live soon to be released, there will be cones set up barring our way to areas that haven’t been developed yet. You have to wait until they are removed before you can gain full access.
That didn’t stop Explorers trying to scale them and have a preview of the new area – soon to be accessible. Watching guys trying to negotiate these cones just to get an early peek of what was in store was hilarious. Some didn’t make it at all – I have to confess that it did take certain dexterity to climb over them – but then, you weren’t meant to climb over them.
If a lot of Explorers were around and a lot of lag set in – you had no chance. But log in at a later time when there wasn’t many about and it was a lot easier. The exhilaration on being able to circumvent that barrier was second to none, coupled with the exasperated ‘I’ve had a look at the new area – haven’t you been there yet?’ message you dispatched on your Ki to your buddies in the neighbourhood. Well… there’s little to match that. I say we keep the cones and Cyan does exactly what they did before. I have do doubt that they will tease us with little examples such as the one I’ve just mentioned.
As a point of interest – it was always the Explorer’s with the higher than recommended systems that were able to leap over these barriers.
Bring on the cones!
