ok, funny story time;

I was at a garage sale and found a copy of all three of the myst novels last weekend, I started with D'ni first and worked backwards (not that I new I was doing that). I have read all the books in one week! I just have simply fell in love with these series. I played all the games up to uru and never really had a grasp of what was going on but was drunk of the beauty of the games. now that I understand how myst works I'm thrilled.

to the point of all of this....
I have some few basic questions.

1. do we have a release date for uru live?
2. what excatly is uru live going to be like?
3. is there any information on where the idea for myst came from. i mean, is it realy urban legands or is this rich story being made up as it goes along and thus the "history" being made up with it?

please please reply

No. The closest thing to a release date is "this holiday season". Maybe November.

You should play Until Uru. Go to http://plasma.cyanworlds.com. Post a request for an invite on the fourm. It's fun. Uru live should be just like Until Uru, onl more complete and more fun.

Uru Live is scheduled for release later this year (the "holiday season")
If you haven't been in any of the Uru stuff, I'd say that you want to check out Until Uru. If you want me to get you a key for the D'mala server, just let me know, I think I still remember where to get it from (I'm an original Kagi Key owner).
(OOC) The Myst Ideas came from the Brothers Miller and Co. Rand,
Robyn, Ryan, Chris Brandkamp, Tony Fryman, Rich Watson, etc.... The company who made Cyan, they came up with it all. The 'history' pretty much has been written as they went along.
(IC) The Myst ideas are from the journals of Katran (Catherine), as she tells of Atrus and thier family. The DRC found them while excavating in the ruins of D'ni.

Hope that helped.

1. Uru Live will hopefully released sometime during the holiday season, so maybe late November or December. The beta test, however, will begin in about a month with 50 selected testers. Every so often, the number of testers will double until a few thousand are roaming about and Cyan is confident the bugs and lag are worked out.

2. We don't know for sure what Uru Live will be like, but here's what we've gathered: Small changes every few days, larger updates every week or so, and new Ages about once a month! Cyan is also looking at things like incorporating fan Ages and the D'ni Guild system into Uru Live.

3. I'm not sure what you mean by this question, but I think it is true that Cyan develops the game content and the storyline simultaneously (but well in advance of us seeing it).

Welcome to the Uru/Myst community!

To fill your mind, your head, your heart with more than enough information, I give you the link to the Wikipedia page on Myst

Wikipedia Page on Myst. From there you can read all about the Miller Brothers plural, all the other people who made all the games, all the games and their offshoots, and...... can I say that you'll need the morning likely? Wink

Have fun and enjoy this whole world. I'm glad you're joining us. Welcome!

Okay this may sound a little stupid or somewhat offtopic but are there MYST books? In the first post of this topic gi_joe05 said that there were Myst novels... I've never heard of them.

The books are:

The Book of Atrus
The Book of Ti'ana
The Book of D'ni

You may be able to find all three in a single volume called The Myst Reader. I found my copy of that on Amazon (within the past year).

No question is ever stupid. Have a read of this topic.

Myst novel that is in this forum in the off-topic area. Have a read of the Wikipedia entry on the Myst Novels.

Book of Atrus and from there, you can jump to the description of the others. Yes, the hard cover ones are rare and out of print. But I got the Myst Reader last year. Money well spent! Myst Reader at Amazon.com

Hope that helps you. Very Happy

Yes, that helped me a lot, thanks.

Im not sure if I can order it from Amazon, since I live in Europe. Maybe I'll buy it from a (online)company a bit closer to home Wink . But I know one thing for sure, Im definetely going to read these books.

Thanks again for all the help Smile

Sure, glad to be of help. I'm sorry if I've sounded a little snippy in some of the other posts. Not my usual friendly self. But, things are a little hairy with me being a "single mum" to two girls at home, at the present time. So, yeah, a little short on the wording I guess. Sad But glad that I helped you, and others. While there are some discrepancies between the details of the novelizations and the game, the books are a very worthwhile read.

Amazon.co.uk sells the Myst reader too. As far as I know, they deliver to other european countries besides britain too. I live in the Netherlands and I order books there regularly.
