I heard in game many references to the "Maker." Since the existance of a creator being is what is referred to as "religion", I was wondering if there are mentioned any other parts of the D'ni's belief and religious texts etc.

It'd be really great to learn about this thing... Oh, and if Cyan puts this into the game, that would be awesome.

The maker's name is Yahvo. You may be able to find out some information on their religion from the Tokotah rooftop.

You can also find quite a bit of information about the D'ni religious beliefs and cults that arose in their history by reading through the history of the kings in the journals found in the Palace.

In regards to The Art, book wrighting/age linking stuff, there was always a sense that the worlds that the D'ni wrote weren't originaly created by the D'ni themselves, but Yahvo, the Maker. He was praised for his "Great Tree of Possibility," or the infinite created worlds inthe universe that were merely tapped into using the art, and created by Yahvo long beforehand.

hope that made sense...

I was more referring to the question of do they worship in say, churchlike areas? If so, maybe we'll get to see some.

Another explorer (Budgie? not sure) told me once that that was the purpose of the so called egg room, referred to as the private rooms by the DRC.
I really like that theory. The eggroom has a very serene feeling to it, also because of the music/atmospheric sound. The chamber around the "egg" were for worship. That's why the doors close and that chamber becomes private, so you could be in a protected area when praying. Maybe the D'ni worshipped "out loud" (not in their head), and it was considered to be not for other's ears. The "egg" may not be an egg after all, but the seed of the Great Tree.

A couple years back, I taught a couple classes on D'ni religion in UU. If you email me, I can send you my notes.

This is correct, yes the "egg" is a seed. This is why I prefer calling it the Prayer Rooms/Chamber instead of Egg Room >.<

Where is the "Egg" room....in the City? In one of the hoods?
I am a relatively new explorer and find the history and culture very very interesting and wondered about the Faith practices of the D'ni also, and the history in the notebooks and the Halll of the Kings. The Great Tree
is certainly a powerful part of it all. Thanks

The "egg room" is a room in every hood next to the classroom and nexus book. Inside are 5 smaller rooms, each of which overlooks a large, floating egg. You can close the smaller rooms from the inside for three minutes at a time, during which you lose the ability to public chat (it's for meditating and private conversations).

Hmm, that makes sense. I wonder if the D'ni had a word for this religion, or did they merely follow it and not refer to it by name i.e. "homage to the Maker." What would the word be?

Yahvo is like the big cheese of D'ni religions but there were groups that believed in other things, people like the Great Tree, Sacred Stone, Writers of Yahvo etc. Some follow important figures like Gish and the Watcher instead.

This makes me want to hold small D'ni religious tours. Perhaps places like the floating stone in Eder Kemo, etc were also used for prayer and meditation. It'd be nice to do a walking tour like that!

Oh, and thanks for answering my question. Very informative ^^;

wow never thought about this, i always supposed it was like for us in modern times
"yeah he created us and all... whatever.. wanna go buy a drink?"
but with the tree and all and the egg room... ahaaa!

btw.
why arent there Cavern tours? people who show newcomers around tell some of the history and what the different areas were for and what happened there. or does the guild of greeters do that too?
