When D'ni fell, there were over a million people living in the cavern. Presumably the large majority of them were struck down by disease in the cavern as well. Yet we see no evidence of this - not even skeletons.

Did the DRC deal with the somewhat gruesome business of moving any remains before opening the sections they did? If so, what the heck do you do with all those remains? Or do you think it was simply a stylistic decision by cyan? I must admit that finding skeletons here and there around the city would probably ruin the mood.

Still, this civilization stopped abruptly and there doesn't seem to be an evidence of that. It looks more like they all just vanished into thin air.

I remember, back in 2003, there was a discussion with one of the DRC members in which it was mentioned that Atrus' group had done a lot of the cleanup of various areas, but, yes, they had found skeletons.

Ah, cool. Though I would think that Atrus' group was far too small to do any significant cleanup. The whole reason they decided not to stay was because of the sheer size of the city compared to the number of survivors.

But realize how small of an area we've explored compared with the immensity of D'ni. Areas like Ae'gura are places which Atrus' group would have covered. Perhaps in other places, the signs of the Fall are greater.

They stuffed all the remains in the bathrooms. Find the bathrooms, find the remains.

Hehehe...

Remember, too, that Veovis and A'Gaeris spent at least a week or two going through the city streets in D'ni, gathering up bodies and linking them into the other Ages to prevent anyone from successfully escaping. While I seriously doubt that they got all 1 million people, not everyone would have been in the Cavern at the time of the attack, and certainly the number of people who fled to other Ages would cut down on the apparent body count.

and also, after 200 years of the natural processes going about their business, I doubt there's much left (Kadish anyone?)

This statement is fairly certain. Areas like the city proper were more heavily damaged than Ae'gura (which is why we're in Ae'gura now and not the main city). So yes, the areas we currently have access to in the cavern are the nicer ones.

Perhaps, the bodies were eaten by the Bahro?

Yeah, the hard parts of bones stay together pretty well in an environment with no significant weather and no animals to clean them up.
