Post Posted: Fri Dec 22, 2006 5:52 pm — Post subject: Helpful notes to have... *Updated January 9, 2007*

***Updated 9 January, 2007***

Here are some great notes for new explorers. I do not take any credit for the information contained in these notes. I just summarized and put them here. I will do my best to update and edit as necessary. Enjoy

Neighborhood Create/Join

---Create
To create a new neighborhood you must first delete your neighborhood book in your library at your relto. Go to your relto and click the "dot in a box" symbol below your neighborhood book. Click "yes" on the warning. Go to the nexus. At the top left of the Nexus panel there should be a flashing book. Click it to create a new neighborhood. **You currently can not change the name of your hood or add a description** See below on how to get others to join your new neighborhood.

---Join
First you must delete your current neighborhood book (read above to see how to do this). You must then find someone from the hood you want to join. Have them share their relto book with you. At their relto link to their hood using their library's hood book. **Make sure that they unlocked their hood book (by clicking the little tab above the book) so you can use it** By linking to their hood (with your hood book deleted) you will join their hood.

Pictures and Journals

---Pictures
To take a picture press F5. The picture will be stored in the Ki folder of the age you are currently in.

---Journals/Notes
To make a new journal entry press F6. This will open your Ki to a blank journal entry. Here you can set a title and whatever you want to write about. It will be saved in the Ki folder of the age you are currently in.

---Sending to friends
To send the pic/note to a friend...Open your main Ki window. Then click on their name at the left of your screen. This will add their name to a box just above the Ki menu tabs. Now open the note/pic you want to send. Finally, click the little arrow pointing to their name to send them your pic/note.

---Deleting
To delete a pic/note...Open it and click the "dot in a box" to the right.

How to Add/Remove/Ignore Buddies

Open the KI Menu
Click the middle tab (looks like an open armed person).
Click the Buddies category
Click <add buddy by ID or name in in Age>
Type in buddies KI# (or name if they are in the same Age)
Press Enter

--or--

Click on "Age Players"
Click on buddies name.
Click the arrow pointing to "Buddies" category.

To ignore...follow same process but click arrow next to "Ignore List"

To remove someone from buddy list...click the "dot in a box" symbol (D'ni number 0)

--You don't need to add someone to your buddy list if you are in the same neighborhood. They will automatically show up on the Neighbors list--

--Your KI# is at the bottom of the KI menu--

Quick chat commands to do the same thing...

/addbuddy <name or KI number> **adds them to your buddy list**
/removebuddy <name or KI number> **removes them from your buddy list**
/ignore <name or KI number> **adds them to your ignore list**

How to Share Ages

Select the book you wish to share
On the left-hand page, touch the "Share" symbol
Stay pretty close to the book, and turn to face the person you're inviting (who must be close in front of you).
Click once on the person
They will move to the book and link out if they accept the invitation
You will then be prompted with the original link
You may decline if you have more people with whom to share, or take this link if you wish to join your friend immediately

I've noticed that the way to tell if you're close enough is to watch the bullet under the share cursor. If it's an empty circle, you're not close enough. If it is a "target" with the explorer's name next to it, you're in the right place.

--or--

Open KI menu
Click middle tab that looks like an open armed person
Click buddy/age list
Click persons name
Click arrow next to age you are inviting them to (adds a link to your age in their nexus

It's always wise to make sure you have the Nexus book, before you delete your neighborhood book. Wink

Hehe!

If all goes wrong you have to finish the cleft, enter Gahreesen and use the Nexus book near the KI dispenser.

... up to a point. Pressing the Delete button again will restore a hood book.

Strictly, pressing the area of dead space where the delete button used to be will restore a hood book. Smile

How to contact in-game support for help, Code of Conduct issues, etc:

Veralun wrote:

In your settings you will see Game Support.
A pop up will come and you can push on "In game Help" or "Report problem".
In Game help will bring you to a webste where you can contact a Live Game Master to bring up your problem.
Report Problem will bring you up to the support system.

What about the "(I'm on the surface, be back in a minute)" message, is there a command for that or does it display when URU is minimized (you can't see it on your own chatlog)?

That message is generated when your avvie is not able to respond; such as dancing, linking, or if you are /afk.

It's also displayed when you interact with a machine or door. I've reported it as a bug.

Can I proposed a revised "How to share books" section?

Select the book you wish to share.
On the left-hand page, touch the "Share" symbol.
Stay pretty close to the book, and turn to face the person you're inviting (who must be close in front of you).
Click once on the person.
They will move to the book and link out if they accept the invitation.
You will then be prompted with the original link. You may decline if you have more people with whom to share, or take this link if you wish to join your friend immediately.

I would suggest centralizing all this information, instead of long threads. Actually, the Guild of Greeters has already done this. Newbies need one place to go for answers, and shouldn't have to read a board.

That said, I learned a few things in this thread!! Thanks.

Lets not forget the /p command. With the /p command you can send a private message to anyone on one of your three age lists but there are some limitation:

a) The person must be either on your age list, buddies list or neighbors list
b) The spelling must be exact with reference to Uppercase and lowercase letters
c) It does not seem to work with names that are more then one word

Apart from all this, it works beautifully.

/p <name> message
/p Thanakar Have a nice day!
