(Yay! First post! *cough* Anyways...)

This might help as well with translations, even though it appears you all have your own sources...

I've been using this to create a English-D'ni dictionary for myself for future fanfiction use. Wish I knew some other English-D'ni translation sites so we could make some comparisons.

I know "Relto" may come from "r'" (the), "ehl" (high), and "to" (place), though this is unconfirmed.

Yes, <rezEro> ("the [blank]") is an accurate D'ni word. Of course, for fear of further damaging my reputation, I'll refrain from actually giving you another definition so soon, and let you debate its meaning a while longer.

It's possible that RAWA was been especially cryptically misleading in this thread and actually gave the definition after all. Perhaps it actually is "the blank", as in "nothing", as in "zero".

(Sigh...yes, I realize that scientifically and mathematically, zero is absolutely not the same as nothing. I knew some of you out there (YES I'm looking at you!) would bring that up so I had to put in the disclaimer.) Razz

*FACEPALM* That was the one I meant earlier. Sorry...I posted the link to another one I knew of, but it's down now.

But very well supported. In one of Yeesha's speeches, she refers to "Relto. The high place."

Source.

Yeah, but I still kind of wonder...

You know the game, Heek, that's available in Bevin now? Well...according to Khrees' translation, "heek" is actually Gehn's cane, known to be a weapon of death.

Speaking of translations...anyone know D'ni word for "game"?

"heek" is short for "ahyoheek"

Oh...

Well...that STILL kinda makes you wonder what the game's original translation is...

EDIT: Heh...maybe in olden times in D'ni, if Gehn caught someone cheating at the game, they got the cane treatment. Hence, "heek" was added to the name.

Has anyone tried translating the names of the new ages (Tetsonot and Payiferen) yet?
