Okay, I know Uru live needs broadband, but what speed?

You see, I still only have dial-up, but I am gonna get Hi-speed soon.
My cable company offers lots of speed choices, but I am not sure what to get.

What is the slowest speed at which Uru Live will work?

Okay, I have a 768 kilobytes/s connection, which is only 13.7 times faster than dial-up, at 56 kilobytes/s. Downloads may not be super-fast, but Until Uru runs fine. You don't really need anything super-fast, unless you want it.

Standard Broadband is 512k and is probably the slowest of the broadband speeds you want to get, but as with many things bigger is better as it means the updates will take far less time.

The rule in these circumstances is the best you can afford. UU's been perfectly playable at 512 k for me.

Well, GameTap requires 384k. Of course, Uru Live will be available separately from GameTap.

I've been playing D'mala with 256k with no problems.

Heh. I'm playing D'mala at 56K, with voice chat using. And (!) it's OK at most.
Few possible lags: long linking, troubles with other avvies' movement when they interfere with cones.

Yes you will be able to 'access' UruLive and probably play it like you can play UU through a 56k connnection the problem is in updates, say Cyan add a new age, it could be a 100meg download, minutes for a broadband user, hours upon hours for dial up one.

Miles from The Cavern Today, in Podcast 13, interviewed Cyan's Chief Technical Officer Mark DeForest (Chogon).

Yeah. I'm on a 54 MBPS Wireless connection(not too reliable, but that's because our Lynksys router has issues...) and I could do 100MB in maybe 20 minutes.

I think of ADSL connection, but only for play and web serfing, not downloads. If I download 100Mb using 56K modem it lasts 5-6 hours and costs less then $1. If I try to use ADSL I spend near 30 min and it costs $5. If it's only 100Mb it's not so important. In other cases I have wait or use corporative network for private purposes.

This isn't very helpful I know, but I'm on 3.5 mb/s (i think), and uu is very fast (duh). I'd recommend the best you can afford, of course...although if you're going from dial-up to broadband anything will seem lightspeed fast Razz
