The truth is, however, that this is currently non-available in online Uru. Furthermore, it is entirely possible that there will be a different Relto page when Online Uru comes around to Ahnonay.

Isn't the whole idea of relto pages that you can pick which ones you want? If you want your relto to be spartan, that's your decision. Having more relto choices won't force you change your relto

Yeah Relto is supposed to reflect you and your choices within Uru. I'm imagining it like this... some people may get some pages, some people may get other pages, maybe based on opportunity, maybe based on group affiliation, maybe for solving challenges... and of course there will be plenty of pages that will be available to everyone, just as things have been in the past. How you dress Relto is supposed to be a reflection of what you're like as an explorer. The more pages we get, the more evident that will be, I should think.

considering the type of people we are, everyone will have every relto page. (sort of a gotta catch 'em all syndrome ) unless they have something that, if you made a choice, there could be two different pages.

of course, unless they made it so no matter how many times you went thru you wouldn'tg et a chance to make the coice again, people would play it thru many times to get all the different pages

once there are lots and lots of pages, the reltos will be very different. but for now, they all look alike becasue we haven't many choices.

Not to be contentious or anything, but I don't have all my Relto pages on - due mostly to low RAM. The sticks and stones were just annoying, as everytime I touch something, my computer has to think about making the sound. Also, if I have rain on, it takes too long for my Relto to load, so...no rain pour moi. In addition, I didn't really like the imager in its current location, so I don't have that on either. However, if I could have rain on, I wouldn't have the roof. Don't ask, I'm just weird.

So yeah, maybe I'm just a minority, but I think simply a few more pages could supply the amount of personalization people desire. I also like Cycreim's idea about getting pages in response to certain actions of your character. That is something that should be fleshed out a bit more in the near future. *ponders*

The real test of Relto customization will come from pages that perhaps are mutually exclusive or pages that combine. Or when we start to have pages that run along certain themes, like plant-themed pages, or wildlife, or flying creatures, or Myst-derived additions like the dock and the tree. Or pages that are significant to one IC group or another.

And along the same lines as the fireflies, maybe there'll be objects we can link with to Relto, so we can get things we wouldn't be able to get through the pages, allowing us to further customize.

For the first year of Live at least, I don't see Reltos diverging too much from the way they look right now... that's a conservative estimate from someone who isn't working at Cyan, and not based on anything other than gut feeling... but Relto is meant to be indicative of the player's attitudes and preferences, rather than being increasingly different from each other. In fact I'm willing to bet that having all the Relto pages turned on is a good indication of a greedy explorer.

How about a crystal viewer?

That's a device that could have real plot development potential, as well as providing a way to view other ages, perhaps from a place that can't be directly accessed by going there. After all, we already know you can (or could, at least) view Riven, so finding out if it's still there could be an ongoing activity in the game.

Hooked up to a KI, I reckon it could also function as a video phone, since KIs already know how to communicate between ages. In fact I always figured the crystal viewer must operate on a related principle to the KIs.

Oooh, now that's a thought!

You could theoretically have a camera stationed at every link-in point, and whenever you enter a correct crystal combination the appropriate camera would take a picture and then display it on the crystal viewer. A realtime videoplayer might be too data-intensive though. I think you're right as well; the crystal viewer works because (we think) each Age sends a resonant signal throughout all the other Ages, so stimulating a blank linking book with those signals reproduced by the crystals allows us to look in on the Age, and I reckon KI's must function similarly. The only drawback I can see is that there are only 254803968 possible crystal combinations (rather than the theoretically infinite number), but that number is large enough for all practical purposes.

Personally, I'd like to see the cleft you created at the end of ABM back again. I know it's completely redundant, since you now have a desert book, and I know you'd always be falling in and cursing whilst the desert loaded... Maybe put a little fence around it? I thought it was pretty... reminded me of Riven and made me get all nostalgic. I'd also like to see a lot of stuff on a new island:

Bigger buildings
A bigger library
A way for you to create multiple journals and shelve them, instead of creating one huge one and carrying it around all the time
A building with a second story and a little balcony
A secret hidden room

Of course, I'd love to be able to write ages, but i think that's a bit beyond Cyan right now... *grin*

Let’s not think of our Relto in a game we play offline – but take advantage of the situation – we are online. It opens up a host of other possibilities – like browsing around members Reltos and freely linking into them – unless they put a lock on them to say they are private. Me? I’m easy – anyone can drop into my Relto anytime. It’s just an idea – but I think they should be open to all – unless you use a facility at hand of course, to make your Relto private. There could even be a facility to leave a calling card – if it is an open Relto.

1) Night/Day (shooting stars, northern lights vs daylight)
2) Secound Island with access (bridge/tunnel page to be found)
3) Creatures - something more than the fireflys (they disappear with just a hint of rain)
4) Season/Weather - what would it be like with snow? Gale force winds?
