Post Posted: Sun Aug 03, 2008 6:21 pm — Post subject: Mysterium 10!

The first Mysterium was held in July of 2000... what better way to celebrate the 10th annual gathering of MYST fans than a return to the birthplace of D'ni?

No, Not Garternay, you Myst Nerds!

Mysterium 10 will take place in Spokane, Washington; home of Cyan Worlds, Inc!

What we know:
~The gathering will happen sometime between June 1 and Sept 1, 2009
~It will formally run Noon Friday to Noon Sunday, with informal stuff happening Thursday evening through Sunday evening.
~ There will be a registration fee again in 2009

What we don't know:
~ How much registration will be
~ What activities will be taking place
~ Who, if any, "Special Guests" will attend
~ If Cyan will officially participate.
~ Anything else.

We will be polling the community extensively to gather information on what people want to see and do, looking to find a balance between social time and activity time, fun and relaxation, games and learning. All while minimising the amount of thumb-twiddling time.

We want to draw on the talents and strengths of the whole community to make the 10th Mysterium the most amazing gathering ever, and a springboard for growth over the next 10 years!

Your Mysterium 2009 Co-Chairs:
Gary "Alahmnat" Buddell and C. "Eleri" Hamilton

In The "It's Never Too Early" Category:

We will be opening up for City Hosting Submissions in early 2009 for Mysterium 2010. If you live in the CENTRAL North American time zone, please consider hosting Mysterium (official requirements announced at submission time.) We will announce the location and dates of Mysterium 2010 the last day of Mysterium 2009. One whole year to plan!

Ah man, so. Mysterium 10 WON'T be a big camping trip in New Mexico? Sad

The return to Spokane... I guess I'd better start getting ready.

Hurray!

I applaud that the Mysterium committee is thinking ahead, and making it easier for people to plan to attend. If the committee is able to announce the 2010 Mysterium at the 2009 Mysterium, that would be wonderful, professional, and of great benefit to everyone, I believe.

Over at Mysterium HQ, we're all kinda fond of the New Mexico idea...so I wouldn't rule it out for any future years. 2010 we'll be looking at fairly central locations, because it's been highly coastal for several years in a row. Time to give the middle states some love!

Finally, I can go to Spokane! (and also sneak into the secret elevator that is the real entrance to Releeshahn.)

And I'm totally for the New Mexico Mysterium in 2010... We should all have a group picture at the Valles Caldera. (Its as close to the Cleft as you can get.) ^_^

This seems quite silly to me. There was just a Mysterium in Spokan 3 years ago. I'd be prioritizing getting around the country so different people could visit (based on the locale).

Apparently you guys don't care about that.

apparently its a tradition to hold it in spokane every three years. Two chances out of three for it to be elsewhere. I call that very fair, considering the size of the Myst community.

I'm certainly not gonna complain Very Happy
