My name was actually not taken from the instrument, but from a character in the Isaac Asimov novel "nightfall". The character was named Theremon but I changed the spelling because I figured more people would be familiar with the instrument and would tend to misspell it.

Unsurprisingly, Lenahtahn was meant to mean 'journeyman' in D'ni (lenah + tahn). Some people say -tahn does not work that way but I wouldn't be so sure. Anyway the name also sounds a bit like len-atan which is Quenya (first syllable taken from lenn-mbass > lembas 'waybread') and means ... journey-man.

i wonder if anyone has ever made a random d'ni name generator? and if so, where one might be found. and if not, why hasn't somebody done so by now? for instance, creating fields to place words to encorporate into the name; then the generator would pull a d'ni word suitable for that and provide the literal translation of it...

for instance, placing the word "falling" into one field and "man" into another... then the generator would retrieve the d'ni words for "falling" and "man" or users could just set it to randomly generate a name from scratch... or even pull random words from a selection of categories...

i cannot code and don't know how to program in any language, but this sounds like a weekend project for plenty of ppl...
... so many explorers adopt d'ni names that such a program would come in handy... anyone willing to give it a shot???

Lint Roller was the name I was using in a different game.
Net 6 was a suggestion someone else made.
Eleanora the Greatly Overrated was a test to see how long I could make a name before they stopped me.
The Last Ninja is because I wanted a ninja in the group, and she's the last one. (Plus, I ran out of ideas after the first one)

My avatar's name is Quill. As a writer myself, it seemed appropriate. Short and sweet. Add all the D'ni connotations regarding the Art and it takes on another layer of meaning. My second choice was Splat. Glad I stuck with my first choice.
