Hi all,

Sorry for the long time in between updates. The silence was not by design or by any dark undertones. Sadly, there is not much to report. I am *still* waiting for a particular ex-Cyan person to send me code changes that only he can make. I know that sounds odd but unfortunately it is the truth and until I have those changes the open source can't proceed. I know that he has been heavily involved in a major release of the product he is working on, so I understand (a little bit).
After that is done, I may ask for some help from a few chosen individuals to help with readying the sources further.

On a different note: Cyan has been working with another company on something (slightly but completely) different. Of course, I can't reveal anything yet but hopefully something will be available late summer, this year. I know that is coming up quickly and it is taking all of our energies.

I could write a small book about the many transformations that Cyan has gone through over the years. Even though I was not at Cyan from the beginning, there was only one ex-Cyan employee at the time I was hired. For the most of that history, we have been a quiet, shy company that let our products do the talking. With the rise of UruLive that had to change because the game was about community and Cyan sharing itself with that community, albeit in our own shy way. So, after UruLive was canceled, Cyan has reverted back to it roots of being that quiet, shy company again, albeit not quite as shy as before. Wink

Thanks for everyone's support.

Would it be considered out of place to inquire what code changes need to be made, and assume someone else in the community might be able to help. Considering what some of the more computer savvy people in the Myst community are capable of, I know its a shot in the dark but I am curios

It has less to do with something technical and more to do with, well, something else.

Thanks,

Thank you very much for the update, Chogon. Your point about Cyan's tendency to shyness is well-taken. Smile

As much as it's nice to hear about the progress (or momentary pause in progress) regarding Uru, it's really good to hear Cyan has another project in the works. I'm sure I'm not the only one looking forward to hearing more about that when the time is right. I'm just glad to know you all have something to work on.

It's also nice to hear that the silence so far has been a quiet one and not a sad one.

Great to hear from you Chogon and thanks so much for the update, it means a lot to us all, and many will take heart from your post. Good luck on the new project and we are here to help with anything that we can.

Shorah and thanks. And Happy June!

Thanks for the updates Chogon. I hope next updates (smaller, of course) will come more rapidly, like once a month.

So, Cyan Worlds is on a new project with another company? can't wait to see it.

On openUru, that's a good update too. Now we atleast know what is done (or rather not done). I hope the wait for the "ex-Cyan employee", whoever he is, won't do "bad stuff". And you all know what "bad stuff" can happen with Uru. nah, I bet it won't take too long. Just keep nagging on him! Wink

Again, thanks for the update. That should keep me coming back for the next month or so.

PS: j'ferry, while I'm not as near as pessimistic as you ("Uru will never see the light of day"), you have some points. I will be surprised if Cyan Worlds could come up with any Uru-stuff on their own, these days (last one was... d'mala?). Though I'm more concerned on other projects. Uru won't bring the money.

Always, good to hear your voice, Chogon. Very Happy Don't feel that you need an update as an exuse to come hang out. We'd be just as happy to hear what you had for lunch or what you think Yeesha's true age (um, years, not worlds) is. Wink Smile

Thanks for the update, Chogon. It's great to hear from you again. Are you saying that only one person can remove the "hot coffee" minigame from the source? Wink
