I was wondering what games out there for Xbox 360 are "like" realMyst, Uru, & End of Ages (even though nothing can come close)? Or are there any planned that you may know of?

I read somewhere that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is similar. But, I watched the trailer and I'm not a fan of the knight era.

I just read about Syberia 2.. that looks like an option. Anyone played that? However, that is an original Xbox game, not 360. :/

I enjoyed Syberia and Syberia 2 on the PC. Another excellent adventure game available for the Xbox is Dreamfall.

Dreamfall was ok. , the Longest Journey was much better. And if I am not mistaken you asked for games for the 360 not the original xbox, so yeah unless you like a little combat in your puzzle/adventure games that is not too much to be found in the myst type arena for the 360.

There is a lack of Myst like games on the Xbox. I will recommend Oblivion though. It does have knight era elements but really is its own game. Really fun and I would highly recommend.

PS- If you have XBL send me a friend request. I really enjoy playing with Uru players.

eh, the Elder Scrolls is not even Myst like in anyway. Most people who play myst don't usually want to hang out with people going on "quests" and such.

Fishing for any new recommendations. I REALLY enjoyed Dreamfall, thanks rivenwanderer. I also bought Mass Effect and really enjoyed that one as well.

Since you like Mass Effect - I think you aren't just interested in adventure games, is that right? You are looking for games that have a great world (extra points if it's beautiful), interesting things to do, a story, and not super linear.

I don't have an Xbox yet, but I do have 3 games for it - Oblivion (have it for the PC too - maybe this time I'll play it), Mass Effect and Assasin's Creed. I can do RPGs - Oblivion and Mass Effect are RPGs. Assasin's Creed is, I believe, a shooter (though no guns), but I'm hoping that there is an easy setting. Assasin's Creed does look like a great game, highly rated - lots of awards - with a fantastic looking world, and a story.

Wait, what? A shooter without guns?

Assassin's Creed is a great game, though. It gets pretty repetitive because it makes you repeat a lot of the same sort of missions, but it's got a great story, and the combat is a lot of fun too. It's got a pretty low difficulty level, though, only one fight in the game gave me any trouble.

I recommend Portal. You can get it either in The Orange Box or as a downloadable game in the Xbox Live Arcade. It has a lot more in common with Myst than most people seem to acknowledge.

Yes, very true! Dreamfall is VERY linear but the story is so interesting. But, yes Mass Effect you're all over the place, I really enjoyed that aspect of it. As I was playing it, I kept thinking that type RPG gameplay would be perfect for Myst, but that's another story. I also had Prince of Persia on rental when I bought Mass Effect, but as soon as I got it I couldn't stop playing. Prince of Persia was really cool to look at, just not as interesting to me obviously.

As vidkid7 said, I've heard it gets a bit repetitive, plus I I was trying to find games that don't have much violence in them. LOL.. But I gave up that quest when I realized that Xbox and violence seemed to be joined at the hip. Oh well. But, then again I also enjoyed Buffy: Chaos Bleeds, being a big Buffy fan.. but that's just the dweeb in me. In fact, that the initial reason I bought an Xbox.. Very Happy

I've heard about that one too. I've watched some gameplay videos on YouTube and I just can't seem to make sense of it. You shoot holes in buildings? Can you explain what its about?

Portal is awesome, with a side-order of fantastic.

Basic plot summary:
You play the part of Chell. Absolutely nothing is known about her, nor is anything at all explained.
You awaken in the Aperture Science "Testing chambers", accompanied only by a disembodied, broken, and passive-aggressive computer to guide you through the chambers, making use of buttons and cubes and all manner of other things as you go.
Aperture Science have managed to perfect "Portal" technology. What does this mean? Basically, a portal is a "Tube" with two ends (one blue, one orange). Anything put through one end of the tube, comes out the other.
Initially you start off being unable to control the portals. They are (largely) timed, and restricted to panels on the wall. As you progress you get the "Aperture Science Hand-Held Portal Device", which initially can only open orange portals on flat surfaces, but later on is upgraded to open both portals on any flat surface. This is the only "Weapon" you get in the game.
But not everything is what it seems in the Aperture Science testing facility. If you keep your eyes peeled, you can find all kinds of little areas that tell a LOT more of the story than GLaDOS (The computer mentioned) is telling you.
Oh, and don't believe their lies about the cake. The cake is a lie.

Hope that piques your interest, without giving too much of the game away.

Sure. The one "weapon" you get early in the game is the "Portal Gun." You shoot an orange portal onto one wall, and shoot a blue portal onto another wall across the room. Then you can step into the orange portal and out of the blue portal. It sounds very complicated, but the game is very well-paced in terms of training you to use it, via a series of puzzles that start out simple (but mind-warping) and get increasingly difficult (and super-trippy) as the game progresses.

This allows for some really crazy/awesome stuff to happen. It also allows for some of the most rewarding lateral-thinking puzzles I've ever come across in a video game. And the puzzles build off one another really cleverly, so the things you figure out to solve early puzzles become basic elements which get mixed into the harder puzzles. It's really brilliant design, I can't stress enough.

Aside from the puzzles, the other thing that makes me compare it to Myst is the presentation/atmosphere. While the science lab you're stuck in obviously bears no resemblance to anything from Myst, the sense of isolation and wonder is very similar, and it uses a similar form of subversive storytelling, where you aren't really interacting with any other characters, but instead have to piece together what must have happened by interpreting the environment.

You could try downloading the demo for the XBLA version. And while you're at it, download the demo for Braid as well. Smile

Few good games:

Shadow of the Colossus- for the PS2. A really great game, unlike myst it was built with the mind set of "story built on gameplay" but the story that was formed is really good. Actually there isn't a lot of story- but what there is is great. You play as a young man who go on a journey to "the forbidden land", a land where a demon called dormin resides. Dormin can bring the dead back to life, yet he is locked inside the bodies of 16 huge giants, the colossus. You want to bring your love, who was sacrificed because of her "cursed fate" to life, and to do so you must find out how to defet each of the colossi. It's a really interesting game, and raises A LOT of questions. Finding out how to climb each colossi and defet him is a puzzle it self. There is another game, a sequel, Ico, which is a puzzle game, but I didn't play it yet. There is also another game on the works, "the last gaurdian".

Oblivion- the 4th TES game, it has quests and all but it's really cool. You play as whoever you want to be, and go on a journey to find the last hair of the septim line, who is the only one who can save the planet nirn from the invasion from the oblivion realm "the deadlands" of mehrunes dagon, prince of destruction. I didn't play the other games yet.
