Wow - this is so exciting! Surprised

I'm thrilled to hear that iMyst is coming along well, even though I don't have an iPhone or iPod touch. I really, really wish I could justify buying one!

Mystdee, thanks for clearing away a bit of the myst and showing us what's been going on behind the scenes. Congratulations for your role as a tester! I know how much fun; and how much work; that can be, so thanks for helping to make iMyst come to be.

Funny, I can think back to when I had Pocket Myst on my Dell Axim PDA. It was pretty near unplayable, and I'm looking forward to seeing the new iteration, now that Cyan has truly done it justice.

Great news!

Thanks, everyone, for the kudos - I have enjoyed every minute and I am sooooo happy to be helping Cyan even if it's only in a small way. Laughing

I would die. I have SO many versions of Myst floating around (though I WILL buy Myst for iPhone)... We need an iPhone Riven port. I really hope Myst for iPhone goes well enough to move onto Riven.

Kind of on/off topic - Just released and purchased by myself is a port of Wolfenstein 3-d on the iPhone. The port was created by none other than the original godfather of first person shooters and genius of id Software, John Carmack. Getting RAVE reviews. "The Best FPS on the iPhone!" Just goes to show how well ports can do if they are done by the original developers.

All of this makes me VERY excited for Myst. One thing that Wolf3D has that I hope they implement into Myst is a savestate system. No matter if you get a phone call, or close the app, or your phone battery dies, you won't lose progress. It's constantly saving the state of your game so when you re-open the app, you can pickup right where you left off without having to manually load a game. Very handy.

P.S. I know some people have iPod Touches, I just have an iPhone. If you feel left out, just replace all of the "iPhone"s with "iPod"s in my post.. Smile

EDIT: P.S.S. I REALLY hope they don't call it iMyst. Adding "i" to everything seems so cliche...

Yes, that is exactly the way we are doing the autosave. You don't have to worry about saving and then restoring each time you quit (or get a phone call) and restart Myst. It will pick up *exactly* where you left off as if you never left. Also, we will give you slots to save your current progress in, in case you want to go back. Like when you can't figure out which brother to trust.

iMyst was just a working title. The title will be "Myst"

Thanks,

Which to trust? You must have changed the game.

Mulder would get it right.

Not at all. You've really got 3 options on how to play it:
  • Collect Red pages
  • Collect Blue pages
  • Collect both (One at a time, as you can only carry one type of page with you)

Obviously, option 3 will take a fair bit longer to do than the first two options.

How you play the endgame is entirely up to you. Smile

There's also the "don't collect any page" option.

Well, yes, if you've played it before and want to skip... everything.

Awesome. Manual save is also a good idea. Wolfenstein is missing a manual save, so I feel I cannot allow anyone to touch my game for fear of screwing up progress.

Quite glad of this.
