If Cyan had the funding to Restart the Restoration Experiment, charged a reasonable fee to cover the cost of running the servers, all the expenses involved and made it profitable for themselves. would you still be interested.
Hypothetically speaking if this where to happen it would be an extra income for Cyan and give the fans what they want.
Assuming enough people are seriously interested in getting back to the Caverns :- )

If this poll turns out the way I hope and Cyan takes notice we might be able to get back before you know it, assuming they have the funding to do so. In any case at least they'll know if its an option somewhere down the line

I think you'll need another 500,000 people to register for these forums and vote to have any impact. However, I am morally bound to vote yes for you. Smile

I voted yes. But remember that fans has been promised to MORE or LESS run and modify the online world/game. And I'd skip these forums (and all other URU forums) during the following treachery debate. Then I'd change avvie name and user names so I'd never be recognized by anybody ever again.
Very Happy

Of course I would pay to play a Cyan-run Uru.

I have done so before, and that's the issue: what has changed between now and the last time I paid for it? If there weren't enough players to keep it going the previous couple of times, why would there be enough now?

That would be my only real fear: if they charged money, presumably it would mean they had to charge money to keep it afloat. And there have never been anywhere near enough players to keep it afloat, so sooner or later (probably sooner) it would close yet again.

But they'd have my money while it lasted.

I would say 'Yes' on this, but that would also depend on how much and what return I would get for my subs.

I really don't think I would this time. I've poured quite a bit of time and money into Uru, and we've still only been given a teaser all these years later.

I hate to say it, but at this point I'd need to see it actually providing something before paying up and joining again.

The hope and faith that paying today for something which may come tomorrow is gone.

Of course I said yes, but I agree with what others said. Didn't make money the 1st time - what makes you think it will again. And - what JWPlatt said, tiny group.

I think OpenSource Uru - the product on the table, the one in the plan - a much better solution.

Well, yes, of course... but... haven't Cyan already signalled that this isn't economically viable, at least, not in the mid to long term?

No... I think it will be a long time (if ever) before Cyan had the resources to put out a steady stream of content that lasted long enough to justify a monthly fee. Big yes, however, to Cyan making new official journeys available for open-source Uru. That I'd pay for. Smile I just don't know if the format of the game works for monthly maintenance.

The only way I would pay is if Cyan were to make new journies/content and on a regular basis, have big updates a couple times a year or make a huge change to the game. All of which are not going to happend anytime soon. There is no I am paying this time around to have the some old regurgerated content.

But you would at least be able to see your homies and others in the city Rolling Eyes ....I choose no also for most, if not all the reasons given above....

Cyan has given us the clearest answer to date....It would be neat to get a nod of the head in one direction or the other... Shocked

But then I voted for the other guy/gal so my vote doesn't count...lol

Considering the above posts and the recent success of iMyst, I don't think there's any real need to fee Uru Live. But if it came to it, as long as the fee is affordable, I would.

From Cyan: Sure.

From a group of fans: Sure, if their content looks good enough.
