By chance there is a windows laptop in our home at the moment so I took a peak at this. Works well. I guess I'm used to the interface so I can't judge that other than how easy it was to get into Mystonline. A good, start right away and never gets in your way interface. I think the game is jolly nice. I'll let my daughter judge it.
The difficulty is just right, and shows that the people at CK has the experience. Difficulties should be like this I think: Pay attention to clear instructions, figure out what they apply to, then perform.
After that one may fill up the places with virtual bonuses and rewards. Rewards to find, earn and buy. Plus a couple of nice, tsogal-like places to chill in.
I like how the wand is used and performes. This will be a hit. (If my daughter agrees Embarassed )
I did not go on beyond finding the first token. I'll let her play without me passing her to many unintended hints.

Now I will seek finance to open a MQ franchise in Scandinavia so if you don't see me every day here at these forums you know what I'm up to.

If you think there is not an Eder Tsogal-like place, wait until you get access to Twisted Woods Smile

Very true. I trust Cyan to churn our excellent material, regardless of MQ's involvement =]

You are right.
We met just now... almost. I was at the keys translating your conversation with my little girl, who was prematurely at those fire orbs. She shouted 'Dad come. Somebody is talking to me, hurry'.

Oh She so hopes that CK will want make this open to us over here, however unlikely that seems.

Personally, the game seemed nice. I had large amounts of difficulty accessing the twisted woods portal, including what definitely appeared to be a bug. (could only cast one rune that did anything, casting that rune would not let me cast anything else, trapping me in the rune casting screen for the twisted woods portal. at which point, the only way out, was to do the three-finger salute (ctrl+alt+del)) At which point, of course, this is a beta, and I expected this, so I reported a bug. Only to be met with the most useless support I've ever encountered in a beta. The first response of the support staff, was "you can't just go from the clan courtyard, if you need help with it, i can help, but don't want to spoil the experience" sort of thing. I submitted an image that should've been fairly clear that i'd done the stuff in the clan courtyard, and had obtained the runes. However, even if I had /not/ completed it, causing a user to have to ctrl+alt+del because a puzzle breaks, or they haven't done everything yet, is broken, and is a bug. I have just gone back in now, and have tried it again. Casting the first rune you get in the game, on the twisted woods portal puts you into a position where you cannot continue, nor can you get out of the screen, nor can you cast any other runes, or at least *I* could not. But, whatever. Environments seem lovely, game is obviously designed for younger players, but looks suitablely enjoyable for the target audience. However, the support is useless, which was a huge disappointment, since support staff are important, especially during a beta.

Are you saying that when you clicked on any of the other runes absolutely nothing happened? They didn't become highlighted or anything? If so, that is a bug. If, however, they do highlight, then maybe you should go back and listen to the clan leaders' clues again. Laughing

ok, lets put it this way.

They highlight, sure. But, I'm not quite sure you read what I said.

I cannot exit the screen without ending the process. If that is Not A Bug (and it was said to me, you are stuck in this screen until such a time you "win" or "lose", and I'm pretty sure not knowing what to do, and imputting the "wrong" thing, is "losing") then I've lost all hope that Cyan Worlds is at all in touch with modern game design, or design in any way shape or form. I am also *not* the only person to have this bug, as someone else has PM'd me to tell me they have had the same issue.

If I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del to get out of a puzzle that I appearantly am not doing right, then something, somewhere, is horribly wrong.

It's by design. While it's not intuitive, you are able to cast a wrong rune and exit the screen.

Oh, nice Smile

Indeed, I don't think Creative Kingdoms would open parks in Europe. However, we still have the wonderful MQO, which is just fine with me.

If I could cast the rune, do you honestly think I'd ctrl+alt+del?

After casting the first rune you recieve, I cannot, I repeat, cannot, cast any other runes. None. I cannot, I repeat, cannot "cast the wrong rune" as they may be highlighted, but, there is no other hotspots. Only the clickregions to select the runes, work, there is no hotspot (gold Q), for the runes other than to select them. I tried *multiple* times to "just cast the wrong rune" to get out of the screen. Please stop insulting my intelligence.

Thanks to a kind soul, the puzzle has been explained to me, however, it does little to raise my expectations. For one thing, there is no reference point for the player to even begin to figure this out. I'm sure many people here will chide me for my poor puzzle solving skills, but.. dear God. This is what Cyan Worlds passes off for Game Design nowadays?

I'd actually be saying "hey, cool idea" if it wasn't for the whole "you cannot leave the screen until you click on a hotspot with the wrong rune" Great, I could live with that, too. If it wasn't for the fact it *removes* an existing hotspot, and I'd never have guessed in a million years that there were other, different, completely different from any hotspot seen so far in relation to portals, in the game, at that point in playing. And, for extra "fun and games", I tried the obvious, move your cursor around to see if maybe there are other "hotspots", but in the (more than cursary, i assure you) check, I found none.

I've seen some horrible design in games before, but, this astounds me.

Whatever talent at logical, sensible, understandable Game Design and puzzle design, Cyan Worlds once had, I personally believe it is *long* gone, now.

So, in conclusion.

Disappointed.

So just because there was one flaw in a challenging puzzle, you jump to the conclusion that Cyan Worlds is bad at Game Design in every way now?

I'm having the same problem as kalisenborai. Can anyone post the solution here, instead of sending PM's?

Thanks

The solution to opening the Twisted Wood portal is told by Willow after you have collected all the runes by doing the quests. You can read it in the Book of Wisdom on the 'Twisted Wood Portal Quest' page.

It may be useful to re-enter the Clan Courtyard portal using the Clan Courtyard portal rune you already have, in order to see how the portal looks when you use the correct rune, i.e. what you are trying to achieve.

Hope this helps Very Happy
