MAGIQUEST ONLINE ENCHANTS ITS WAY ONTO PC

World’s Largest Live Action Game Can Now Be Played at Home
Creating Collision of Virtual and Real Life

(Myrtle Beach, SC) June 21, 2010 – Creative Kingdoms, the minds behind MagiQuest – the world’s largest live action game, are proud to announce the arrival of MagiQuest Online: The Portal Adventure Series; Chapter One. The Clan Courtyard and Twisted Woods Realms. Developed in partnership with Cyan Worlds, creators of the best-selling Myst series, MagiQuest Online allows players to take their adventures from the real world into the virtual one, and back.

In MagiQuest Online, players discover that there is more to the adventure than the seventeen MagiQuest Live action centers around the globe. There are in fact two MagiQuest worlds – the real and the virtual – separated only by portals that must be protected by skilled Magi, as MagiQuest players are known. Dragons, golems, and all sort of despicable creatures hope to escape through these portals so they may enter the real world and wreak havoc upon mankind. Only by braving this online adventure can players defend both worlds from these rogues' schemes.

The popular MagiQuest Live is a game designed for both gamers and non-gamers alike as a way to inspire physical and social activity by using puzzles and challenges similar to those found in a video game. MagiQuest Online now connects participants’ live play experience to their virtual play experience in an instantaneous way so that play is tracked back and forth. MagiQuest Online takes gaming to a new level, and is the first breakthrough collision between virtual and real life.
“More than 1 million Magi have set their imagination free at MagiQuest Live centers since we first launched the game in 2005,” said Rick Briggs, Chief Interactive Officer and Co-Founder of Creative Kingdoms. “We created MagiQuest Online to give both new and accomplished Magi an entirely new world to discover. A world that, through our patented FX technology, intertwines with the real-world MagiQuest experience.”

Thus, MagiQuest Online is unlike any other video game on the market today because it’s completely integrated with the MagiQuest Live centers. Upon first starting up MagiQuest Online, players will be able to enter their Magi name and password, and will find all their accumulated experience, powers and treasures waiting for them in the virtual world. In addition, anything earned in MagiQuest Online will be useable upon their next visit to any of the Live centers. Best of all, those who are brave enough to complete the online adventure will have an exclusive quest awaiting them as well.

“My favorite aspect of MagiQuest Online is that it promotes collaboration and communication, which have always been cornerstones of the MagiQuest experience,” said Denise Weston, Director of Imagination and Co-Founder of Creative Kingdoms. “People who make new friends at a MagiQuest Live location can now meet up and adventure together online no matter how far apart they live. Ultimately, having fun with friends is what MagiQuest is all about.”

MagiQuest Online: The Portal Adventure Series; Chapter One. The Clan Courtyard and Twisted Woods Realms retails for $9.99 and is rated E for Everyone. It is available at most MagiQuest Live centers, and online at http://www.magiquest.com/mqonline.

Agreed...but as I said before and I will say it again: it's either this or Cyan saying bye bye.

I personally enjoyed both the real life and the onlines versions of MagiQuest! I have no doubt that many others have and will also. Laughing

MQO is quite different from Uru, sure. I don't care enough to try it, but it doesn't look bad from what I've seen. Tacky in some places? Sure, but what isn't? *cough* Achenar'sdialogueinmyst4 *cough*

I offer "anything Yeesha says past Myst IV" as a better example of tackiness in this here series.

Those in the Uru community who share fandom with MagiQuest and live in the Northeast, US have been patiently (or not so patiently) waiting longer than those near our other locations for this news. Smile

Laughing I'd suggest you submit this idea to the show's producers, but I'm not sure how CK would feel about that kind of publicity. Wink

Um, yeah, ok...

I don't watch broadcast television anymore, so I had to look this up on the wiki. "Snooki" sounded like a stuffed animal to me, so what do I know. All I can say is that if I meet her at MagiQuest, you'll obviously know before I do. Laughing

RE: MagiQuest Online Game

Creative Kingdoms with our development partner Cyan Worlds, has expanded the world of MagiQuest into the online world with its MMO MagiQuest Online since March 2010.

While all involved are immensely proud of MagiQuest Online, we have decided to discontinue MagiQuest Online on December 31, 2012. This decision was not made lightly, but was determined to be the best plan of action after much investigation.

For those Magi who have not yet had a chance to experience the magic of MagiQuest Online, the game will remain available on the MagiQuest website and at select MagiQuest locations until October 29, 2012.

For existing Magi, we invite you to return and enjoy MagiQuest Online until the game shuts down on December 31, 2012.

Note that this shutdown covers the MagiQuest Online and online retail shop services. The MagiQuest live sites, website, and online customer support system will continue to operate as usual.

For questions or concerns, contact us at http://magiquest.com/contact-us/.

Thank You

The MagiQuest Online Team

That was the official announcement.

I want to add a huge word of thanks to the community here and everyone at Cyan for their enthusiasm, creativity and support. Cyan did really wonderful work with MagiQuest Online (MQO). They produced an incredible, magical game for our customers. It was amazing and a joy to watch them do their thing. Cyan Support has been first class for Creative Kingdoms, MagiQuest and MQO. MQO is the only game I know of that combines virtual play online with physical play in a real space for families and people of all ages. Friends and community here had a great enthusiasm and support for the project in beta testing and playing the game after release. There are too many names to mention (or remember), so here's just one you know. If you weren't aware of it, one of our own earned an audition to contribute voice talent to MQO. Teknobubba did an awesome job and is credited as the voice of Riccum, The Man in the Tree.

Sad news. I was hoping more portals would open. CYAN did an awesome job. It was such fun. Thanks JW Platt for your part in making MQO happen. Maybe we should all organize a party in the Twisted Woods before it closes.
