Yep. I did my bit in Uru Live. It was a sad day when it came to an end. But...the phoenix is now rising from the ashes. I can't wait... Very Happy

I was on URU from August 2003 until it was shut down.

Afterwords, I wrote up the Until URU Basic Install Guide:

I hope it helped some folks out.

Glad to be back & glad to see some familiar names!

Yeah, I was there; started in Sept '03, if I recall, and played obsessively until it was shut down. Did not really get into the single player version, although I have it. I have not visited the forums since '04, really, but now that I'm signed up for beta, I'll try and get back up to speed!

While I did participate in the first Live effort, I am hoping the reurrection has a less frantic pace and a tight story line with GOOD puzzles and challenges to provide an ongoing place of enjoyment and wonder.

The scurrying and running about in the original was NOT one of the things I liked.

The graphics, the puzzles, the learning, those were fun.

Here's hoping.

i got Uru ( so i could join the live) as soon as i saw the first tv commercial in october of 2002. had a lot of rl stuff so i was a 'good girl' and waited to play the game until after christmas. then i waited until i had finished the single player version so i could have quality experience when i joined up, i didnt wanna be a noob. then i joined the live cavern and it was exhilerating.

The very FIRST CONVERSTION I overheard was 'so..did you hear the bad news today..?' !!!! Shocked

i joined just in time for the crying.

(which has been used ever since! if i ever felt a little blue and needed a good cry i would watch and rewatch soosie's farewell video)

I'm new to Live. I picked up MYST in december 2004, and Uru sometime in January or Feburary (I'm one of those people who must play the games in order)

Very Happy There is no ‘real’ order lego. Anyone can play the games in any order – in fact you don’t really have to play the older games (I know… try telling that to ardent fans!). Every game – cunningly takes one from the start with a short lesson on the history of each particular game. The games do relate to one another – but they are not really connected in any sort of series.

Uru Prologue for me was a diversion from the Myst theme games – so to speak – it really was ‘something else’. And, I have no doubt – if you were around then – you would have applied for the Open Beta.

The beauty of Prologue (Open Beta) was the fact that everything was new to us raw adventure (just done Myst) seekers. If you can envisage going to D’mala, but finding a lot of areas in the City closed off (yeah… cones and barriers) – I mean – even on the Great Stair! And the areas that you roam freely in D’mala now - opening up for the first time on a gradual basis every few weeks – you can understand how everyone was so excited.

It was all new – we had never seen it before. And… the fact that you could meet up with others. But again, I have to reiterate – the beauty of it all was - not knowing what was coming next.

We have all played the games – including UABM – believe me – there is no comparison when you are playing online – just knowing that someone is around the next corner in the City – that knows something that you don’t. Perhaps another Age has been added – or a door unlocked since your last visit. Don’t start me off – I could rant for eons on the experience.

All these ol’ Prologuers were just lucky to be around that’s all – but maybe people now will understand the sadness when it came to an end.

On a brighter note – IT’S COMING BACK!

Just try and stop me signing up!

I was in the first live and was a beta tester. I would have signed up as a tester for this live from the begining but I haven't been coming to the forums and the first I heard about it was when I got an email about the latest offer from Gametap. I signed up right away but will have to wait to get in the game.

I was in the original Live beta as well. Same Inaya!

I played with someone (I can't remember) up until we basically got kicked off (that wasn't smooth) running around the Great Zero. Man, those were the days...

Uru was the first online game I had played . I was so excited to accept my invitation in December of 2003 and played daily until it was shut down. It's fun to see so many names posted now that I remember hanging out with in game. I was Jenuue and I guess I always will be....just Jen. I've made some life long friends from Uru and visited a few in Europe and in the states. It certainly has opened a whole new world for me. I can't wait to see everyone in Live again!
see you all soon!
