This is something I have wanted to post about for a very long time. So excuse the length of the post.
As most of you know, I've been over in There along with some of our fellow refugees. It is nice to know that not only it is time to go 'home', but it is time we opened up our hearts and reltos to those who do not know us.
When the first Uru settlers stepped foot into There, well, it wasn't pretty. They didn't understand us, all they saw was that we were invaders. We Uruites in There have faced a lot of rudeness and unkindness at the hands of people who did not know us. Being from Uru, we are used to treating people with respect and kindness. That is the standard of our community, however, the Therians never quite understood who we were and what we stood for, so we were, and in some cases still are, through no fault of our own, treated like second class citizens because of our Uru heritage.
We have learned ways around it. When we are given prejudice and harm, we give back love and respect. We have constantly and consistantly held ourselves to our standards and not lowered ourselves to the level of whomever would subdue or harm us.
From Marcus Aurelius'
Meditations Book Seven, #15. "No matter what anyone else does or says, I must be good. It is as if gold or an emerald or purple dye were perpetually telling itself, "No matter what anyone may do or say, I must be an emerald and keep my color."
As I told one of our Uru Community members when they came to There...
"Watch out. The Therians aren't as nice as the people from our homeworld."
And unfortunately it's true. We are a very special community. We have a bond that people from the outside won't really understand. I believe it should be our mandate to make sure that those new to our world receive the welcome that those of us who went to other worlds didn't receive. It is my belief that this community is a shining example of what a community
SHOULD be.
For those who come to us without the ability to be polite, it's not on us to fret or do anything about it...that is the job of our outstanding mods.
Book Five #35 "If the wrong is not in me, or the result of something I have done, or harmful to the community - why should it concern me? How can the community be harmed by it anyway?"
We can only help them get acclimatized...what they do on this side of the cavern door is up to them. However, I will not close my relto door to anyone coming to me for help. That's all I can do and all that I can control.
Let us keep our identity as one of the BEST On-line Communities and welcome all who would visit our home, and if someone decides to get raunchy...well, Sun Tzu said it best, "Hide the sword in a smile" and let the mods take out the garbage.
For those of you who are new, Welcome, we're glad to have you.
