hello! Chad Shaw here,

I was wondering if we could change our appearance without having to link all the way to Relto, and then again link to a seperate 'avatar customization' age. Like when you feel you want to wear another shirt you just click on your avatar and select appearance from a menu that appears, and then you can change the appearance, The old way shouldn't be cleared outof the game but just so you don't have to link all the way to the closet age to change your clothes skin or whatever. Also, I suggest more detailed face options, like the upper and downer eye corner position and such. and to the torso and legs and feet. It would also be cool to make Custom clothes, maybe this could be done in the Closet age. (avatar customization)

I have no clue if this could ever even reach the team that makes the content but i was just speculating Smile And thinking on how to maybe improve Uru Live in the future.

Sincerely, Chad Shaw Smile

i think it'd be rather disorienting and would tend to disturb the immersive feel of being in the cavern if people's clothes were to just change at a moment's notice. it keeps a certain realism to have to go somewhere and change, then come back.

I agree with K'huunah. Though I would like to change clothes without need of linking to Avatar Customization Age, I don't see how that's possible because for some things (like eye color) we need to see a close up of our avatars, which currently isn't possible while running around in the game.

Hi again Smile

At the other hand, that is true.. it does give a certain realism. Allthough it would be easyer to do a "Quick Change". To 'keep it real' maybe there could be made special places around the D'ni City where you could change clothes. Like the nexus linking points are all over. maybe there could be placed closets. Not like in the middle of a huge open space ofcourse. at the Kahlo Pub for example. in a seperate room.

Interesting idea. It has been mentioned that there is a lack of bathrooms. They could introduce bathrooms into areas of the game. That could be where ppl would change clothes.

I'd like it if instead of linking when clicking on the wardrobe door, you walk into a walk in wardrobe instead, with a mirror at the end (or maybe just use the 3ed person perspective if a mirror isn't feasable).

I like both Chad Shaw's and Sudre's ideas. It would definitely add some realism if there were bathrooms in some places, and they could be used to change clothes as well. That way, people don't have to link to Relto first, then to Avatar Customization, then back out to Relto, then to Nexus, then back to wherever they were originally at. It would save a lot of linking time.

I would like to see them only in neighborhoods or Ae'gura though, since I'm not sure how nice it would look to see something like a Porta-Potty in somewhere like Eder Gira. Laughing

How does one even make a reply to all that?
Wow
Maybe just some small changes in what we already have.
The closet is only a hassle when you leave it and keep falling thru your island. Then you have to F3 to get out your book and land.
But otherwise just a few new things in our closests would be really nice.
Outhouses through-out the ages would definitly distract however.
It must be getting late or something. Rolling Eyes

remember they have the content team back??? they can do this if they realy want to. it is not new things that we want (maybe we do too) but this topic is about wether it is a good idea to put closets in special hidden area's (not too hidden ofcourse) . around The D'ni City and maybe some neighborhoods too, to change your clothes quick so you don't have to link all the way to your home age and then again to another age.

While we're at it, I think this name (to the extent that this area needs a name at all) should be changed to something like "Wardrobe" or something. The phrase "Avatar Customization" has no meaning or place in an IC environment. If the bathroom-as-changing-station-too ("there's a meeting in the ladies room!" Surprised ) idea is implimented, it really shouldn't be labelled as a discrete age, even if that's how it's implimented internally; we should still be listed as in "Aegura" (or wherever).

I don't know... the alternative is even *less* appealing! Maybe that's one way to keep people from wading in the pool areas.... Shocked

As long as we're involved in URU, ages that the DRC have an established presence in don't need to be "devoid of human marks" in there to establish mood -- the mood is that human re-construction engineers are already there and are in the midst of work... and name me a construction site up on the surface that doesn't have an outhouse! Very Happy

Even if people (us or the DRC) can easily link out to where we need to go, getting back to our original location is a pain; thus the outhouse is still needed.

(And for the record, I think Cyan still needs to ensure that D'ni bathrooms -- not DRC-purchased outhouses -- are placed appropriately where they should be.)

I prefer my wardrobe changes to make sense. Being able to change clothes without an inventory, right in the middle of nowhere, when no new clothes are being presented, doesn't make sense. It's a luxury we can do without.

However, I do like Stellaflora's suggestion of a proper walk-in closet effect. particularly because the avatar interface is fairly misleading, and doesn't really allow you to see how body shape, outfits and hair are going to look on your avatar in anything resembling the 'natural' light of the various environments to Uru.

I'll be trying on outfits in the closet Age and figure most of them look awful until I actually dare to try something new, get out of the closet, and find out my character looks great. Conversely, I'll try on something that I figure should look really good on my avatar, only to find out it looks drab and dreadful. A slightly more realistic means of determining the look of the avatar would be appreciated.

ETA: (And for the record, I think Cyan still needs to ensure that D'ni bathrooms -- not DRC-purchased outhouses -- are placed appropriately where they should be.)

*Atrus looks up from his book... coughs slightly, and then directs us to the far corner of the K'veer chamber with his eyes, where you notice a conspicuous pile of books with pages ripped out... and a hole in the floor by a piece of fallen masonry just low enough to sit on*

I definitely agree with that! I've never liked the name "Avatar Customization" when looking through my KI, it looks so out of place with everything.

Imagine going up the Great Stairs & when you get to the top you see a long row of cyan colored porta-potties.

I like the idea of a walk in "wardrobe". I never liked 'Avatar Customization' for a name, either. And a better way to determine the outcome of the outfit I've chosen would be great. What I don't think we need, nor do I think is realistic, is the ability to

as Lee in Limbo pointed out.

Even with a 'D'ni dunny' Shocked in strategic areas, how often in RL do people actually go into a public restroom and come out with a completely new look? Unless of course you just robbed a bank, or commited some other major felony.

Maybe if Macy's or some other clothing retailer set up shop in Ae'gura or one of the Hoods, I could believe someone changing their appearance without actually leaving the area, but quick change booths? No thanks!

....... envisions telephone booths strewn throughout the Ages so that people can satisfy their 'Clark Kent' urges......
