Post Posted: Tue Mar 09, 2010 5:51 pm — Post subject: Friends from THERE: useful info

Warning! This post might contain spoilers, but I'm posting it here so that friends from There can find the information quickly. I've been asked questions about this in There.

If you are wanting to get in touch with friends in MOUL, you will need to get a KI communication device. This is how to get it.

Go into the hut on the island (Relto) where you start.

On the left-hand bookshelf is a book with a blue cover. Click on the book, and then on the picture that appears. This will teleport (link) you to an area called a bevin or neighbourhood.

From where you arrive, go along the walkway by the flipchart until you reach a courtyard. Turn right into a room with books on pedestals. Use the book on the left, with a picture of a large grey room. Click on the picture to link. This will take you to Gahreesen.

From where you link, go through the open doors, then turn right along the passageway until you reach a barrier. Go into the room on your right, then explore this and the next room until you find a large machine with a blue glowing symbol on in. This is the KI dispenser. Click on the symbol to get your KI (it looks like a large wristwatch).

Now either use the book on the nearby pedestal, which will take you to the Nexus, a machine with lots of linking books, or use your Relto book (hit F3 to open this).

How to use the KI to add friends so you can send them an im:
Type /addbuddy <friend's KI number>
This will add them to your buddy list. If they are online, their name will appear under the BUDDIES heading on the left side of the screen.
To send an im to them, click on their name then start typing.

Tell your friend what your KI number is. Press F2 several times until you see a communication screen with three icons on the top left. Your KI number is at the bottom left, after your name. It looks like this: [ID:00192455] In this case you would say your KI number is 192455.

If you would like to post your There avie name here, and your new MOUL avie name with your KI number, then we should be able to keep in touch with each other.

I'll start the ball rolling.
In There: GuildmasterDot (GoMa pazes on Tyr); DevokanDot (Eder Devokan hood on Aurora) -- also in The Meeting Place group

In MOULa: ::: (pronounced 'Dot') -- KI number 192455 -- The Meeting Place hood
See my signature for the other two avies I use.

Finally, many of us in MOUL know what it is like to lose access to an online world that has become a home from home. The emotions involved can be surprisingly strong and upsetting. You are among friends here -- many of us made a home in There when we lost access to Uru.

Shorah! Welcome! Smile

Shorah Therians and welcome to Uru! As Dot noted, we've experienced the loss of our homeworld in the past, too, so you can expect sympathetic understanding among the explorers. It's a warm and welcoming community, so if you have any questions, just ask the nearest person in cavern or post here. You should get a quick and helpful response.

Dot has provided a great quick-start guide for you, but I would just like to add that, when someone IMs you, you can find their name in the Recents list, and from there, add them to your Buddy list, if you like.

Again, welcome and I hope to meet some of you in the cavern, soon.

Yes, it seems there is shutting down...

To those of you from There.com, you are indeed welcome here with Uru. (And some of you, welcome back!) You will find many of us in SL and other cyberrealms, as well, where you'll also be welcome. And yes, many of us remember how it feels to lose a server one has called home...

There has just closed down. Many of us are gathering in Uru, at The Meeting Place hood.

If you would like to continue to meet regularly with There friends, The Meeting Place has a regular Funday Meet, usually starting at 8pm UTC each Sunday in The Meeting Place neighbourhood.

Uru explorers organise many other regular and one-off events, both in Uru and in the other worlds where they have made a second (or third or ...) home. DMom's cavern events thread in the MOUL off-topic section is a useful resource to see what is happening; The D'ni Voice blog, a daily newsletter, has more details.

The Guild of Messengers also keeps track of cavern events.
