Is there any way to put plain text outside your Ki on it or vice-versa?

I've used Texter (text expander) to "paste" things into the KI. It works pretty well, but is an annoying extra step. I wish there was a better way (ie integrated copy&paste). As far as I know there isn't a way to bring text from the KI outside the program. Everything is stored on the server, so there is no way to get to it.

I may be wrong,
but isn't there a command that creates a txt file chat log, stored on your PC, something like "/startlog", and when finished "/stoplog".

we used it a lot but i havent used it recently.
I hope someone corrects me
ha, just found a list of commands

Yeah, logging is the closest you can get. The trouble is the KI probably uses some graphical draw method built in.. and in turn you can't select text, can't paste text, and it's limited in size in how much it displays (even on widescreen where you'd expect more usable size).

KI upgrades (NOT python commands like the UserKI but actual changes to interface design) are another item to be tossed into the "not until open source" bin Confused

It isn't possible to copy text from the KI. You could work around this by starting a chat log when you sign in, then you would be able to go there to copy anything you decided you wanted.

Also, it is possible to create a "paste" function that works with Ctrl + V using AutoHotkey. Here's an example (this script adds paste functionality to Ctrl + V and Shift + Ins):

Code:

#NoEnv
SendMode Input

#IfWinActive ahk_class Plasma
  ^v::    Send %clipboard%
  +Ins::  Send %clipboard%
return

Ok, thanks for all the help, will download and try autohotkey.

Similar utility is AutoIt, I can even imagine a KI chat "console" implemented using these tools :-)

Thanks guys, the DRAEC was looking for some help here, and you provided!

We will now type all our reports on a surface program and then transfer them to KI. It'll be a lot less tedious than retyping the reports.

I was looking for a way I can display KI chat in a very large font size. I found out that when opening chat log in Notepad++, I am warned every time log changes, and I can reloud it. This way, I can view KI messages in a font size of my choice, in my case 48 pts :-)

Have you tried changing the chat size from within the KI settings? When in the holographic KI interface you should see a gear-like symbol. That's the KI settings tab. There you should find a slider for adjusting KI text size.

Of course, but there are times when the text scrolls too quick for me and there's no way to pause/resume it, and the font size in KI is far smaller than I need for comfortable reading

Thanks TomVal, I've noticed your post before, but didn't check on the Notepad++ tip till now. It's so much better to scroll now instead of KI Very Happy
I've fiddled with some settings in the Notepad++ preferences (Misc./File Status Auto-Detection) so it's silently auto-updating. I also like the feature to "Run"/load the file (Chat.0) in my browser (Firefox).

Not being a coder and all... I take it actual selection of KI text and thus how it's drawn/entered/etc is handled by the engine internally and not by the python source we were given? In other words we can't do anything to allow select/copy/paste of KI chat until we have the full client source? Confused

Adding copy/paste support without selection would be very easy...but it would be the entire Journal entry. Adding a mechanism to highlight text to be copied/pasted would be more challenging.

Found another nice 'n simple app that can help to read & scroll the KI chatlog in a preferred font and size, "realtime" (auto-reload interval options):
LogViewer Pro - http://www.uvviewsoft.com/logviewer/ - free for personal use
(It also allows to select and copy text from the KI chatlog (and paste it somewhere else), no pasting to KI chat though.)
Very basic, no frills, fast, free and portable Windows application, easy to configure to your needs.
I really love the LogViewer, opening Notepad++ reminds me of my lack of programming skills... Laughing
