Maybe it's time to do outside and do something in the real world?

Now why would you want to do that when you can have a massive dance party in SL Ae'gura?

I went to the doctors today, so that was my outside experience. I was gardening over the weekend too.

The cavern being closed this week is good timing for me because it's forcing me to get my uni stuff done. But I need a relaxation break so I joined SL to see what people were talking about and learnt how to fly which is fun but I so miss the cavern....

There really is a big difference. If you can, stop by my post in the off topic area and you can probably find some things to get you started.

If you join D'ni Refugees, just give them a shout (double click their name under "My Group") and somebody will get you started.

I started to learn Python so one day I might be able to help with Age creation. Also saw the Cyan HQ video from the Mysteriacs.

What have I been doing since I can't get into The Cavern to hang out with people....well, lemme go down the list:

I've been reading up on The Kings of D'ni and D'ni history, society, etc. on the Guild Of Greeters' web-page library....after I finished that....

I've been working on posting articles and maintaining my shop's forum (historical re-enactment/recreation type stuff)...Just started a small thread about Fire Pistons and how to make them.....so far no replies. Thought I'd get some interest going with the cooking forum recipes, but so far that's pretty dead too.

That lead me to going over all the Frontiers/Fur Trade Era supply websites I check periodically for new camp and primitive trekking gear. (JAS Townsend & Sons, Track Of The Wolf, Dixie Gun Works's Camping section, Wilde Weavery, Fugawee Historical Reproduction Shoe's, and Westminster Forge)

Got my new Lehman's catalog today and checked out possably purchasing a "Homesteader's Lantern" from Lehman's Totally Non-Electric Catalog (which Ironically has a web-site/online store). They are on back order and I just got the catalog today!

So then I went over to Cabela's Sporting Goods to drool on all the more modern camp gear I wish I could get....like the new Camp Chef Camp Oven. Just the thought of fresh baked cornbread after hours at the Renaissance Faires I work is making me hungry.

Played Star Wars: Battle Front for a little bit while listening to MP3's in the background (currently on The Matrix Reloaded Soundtrack: Session by Linkin Park....just finish with "Du Hast" by Rammstein)

And I've been skimming through an interesting little book that my mother-in-law got me called "The Art Of Shen Ku: 'The Ultimate Travelor's Guide Of this Planet" The First Intergalactice Artform of the Entire Universe'" by Zeek. It's actually kinda interesting. An odd little collection of survival skills, travel wisdom, martial arts and self-defense, 1st aid and travel/survival medicine, interspersed with poems, stories, and the author's art-work. I think I'll add it to some of the other books I'm currently reading:

The Art Of Happiness by His Holiness The Thirteenth Dalai Llama of Tibet, Sakya Monk Tenzin Gyatso

Sword Of No Blade by Joan Baxter

Stranger In A Strange Land(Original Uncut Version) by Robert A. Heinlein

The Book Of Buckskinning Series (1-8 ) Edited by William "Bill" Scurlock. It's a collection of articles from the last 36 years of Muzzleloader Magazine. So far it's providing me with some useful hints on getting into the Rendezvous/Fur Trade/Colonial/Settlement....aka "The Frontier" re-enactment events.

A Pilgram's Journey (Vol.'s 1 and 2) by Mark A. Baker, a compilation of the last 20 years of Mr. Baker's "A Pilgram's Journey" column for Muzzleloader (recognizing a trend here yet folks?)

The Tales of Adam and The Story Of B by Daniel Quinn

A Language Older Than Words and The Culture of Make Believe by Derrick Jensen

The current issue of Muzzleloader Magazine

and just for fun, and as an aside from my research reading.... Earth Abides by George R. Stewart.....

oh, and I've been reading through the forums here, The Hoodlums Forum on Survival.com, and checking all my favorite web-comics (The Devil's Panties/Geebas On Parade by Jennie Breeden, Candi by Starline X. Hodge, The Wandering Ones (done by my friend Clint Hollingsworth), Wapsi Square by Paul Taylor, Oh My Gods! by Shivian Montar Balaris (currently on hiatus), Clan Of The Cats by Jamie Robertson, Goblin Hollow;Tales Of The Questor; Camp Calomine; and Nip&Tuck by R.H. Junior, Looking For Group, Goblins: Life Through Their Eyes by Tarol Hunt, The Dreamland Chronicles by Scott Christian Sava, Wayfarer's Moon (also on Hiatus...but I like re-reading it), School Bites by Holly G, Cheap Thrills by Vivix, Shadowgirls by Dave Rodriguez and Dave Reynolds, and Menage' A 3 by Giselle LaGrace and Dave Zero1)

oh, and in the time it's taken me to write this, add in on the convenient hyper-links for everyone to see what I'm talking about, fix any mistakes, preview it, and finally post it....my play list has progressed from "Du Hast" and "Session" through "This Is The New Sh**" by Marilyn Manson, "Furious Angels" and "Chateu" by Rob Dugan, "Dread Rock" by Paul Oakenfold, "Better Be Good To Me" by Tina Turner, and pretty much the entire "Mobius" album by QED.

and people wonder why I'm always tired after my days off!

Oh heck, that's just normal research for work Very Happy....granted it's research I enjoy on Frontier Re-Enacting. The shop is thinking of sending me and the Boss out to some frontiers/fur trade/wild west festivals. Which since I like that sort of thing I think would be great. Instead of watching the booth while the Boss goes over to shoot in an archery competition, I might actually get to make him watch the booth while I shoot in the flintlock competitions, or the tomahawk and knife throwing competitions, or even the flint&steel fire making competitions. (I dunno if I'm up for doing The Senega Run or The Trapper's Run....those are timed events that combine all the skills into sort of a marathon. You have to run down the course, hit a number of targets, usually reloading on the run, and then geta fire going with a flint and steel at the end when yer exhausted.)

Earth Abides, Stranger In A Strange Land, Daniel Quinn's and Derrick Jensen's books are more for my own re-reading. Looking up passages that I'm quoting to friends on other forums.

Played World of Goo, finally. Amazing game with a surprisingly deep(and sweet) story. Smile

Played a bit of Altitude, but I'm bad at it. I am however good at being the most "assisting" plane(which is to say I shoot a lot of players but never actually get any kills. Laughing )

Mostly I'm just going through withdrawl at the fact I finally have a copy of Windows 7 and installed Uru, but now can't get in to play it. Crying or Very sad Unlike you lucky people, I don't have CC, only the original Uru disk, so I can't go bake pellets even if I wanted to now that Live is down. Sad

This break is letting me catch up on playing other games though. I recently installed Oblivion again, and modded it with all three overhaul mods, so it's sort of like playing a whole new RPG again. Between that, Dirt 2, Trackmania, and Altitude, I'm not going to be bored anytime soon. Very Happy
