Post Posted: Wed Jul 21, 2010 3:27 am — Post subject: Who is "He" ???

maybe there wasn't quite enough time for this revelation so perhaps it isn't common knowledge, but since i was a tad late for the party and missed out on the Gametap ressurection (and subseqeunt crusifixion) of URU Live, who is the "He" Yeesha refers to in the opening sequence...???

my speculation would point to either Esher of Myst V or perhaps Dr. Watson as the most promanent male characters she could be referring to. i'm not sure if URU was live long enough on game tap for this mysterrious "He" who was comming to be revealed. if "He" was, or if any indication was ever given as to who "He" is, perhaps someone might enlighten me?

and as always, i'd appreciate it! Very Happy

Thanks!

The He would have been Dr. Watson who returned in one of the last episodes of Myst Online. In the intro, Yeesha also says "And I will come as well", which she did. She appeared in K'veer during the last episode accompanied by some Bahro.

I thought "he" was the male bahro from whom Esher removed the piece of skin which is now in Yeesha's possession. When she left the cavern with it, the bad bahro followed, thus buying the explorers some time to write new ages in hopes of finding an answer to the bahro war. And, that's where we're at, now.

i had heard about yeesha's appearance in k'veer, but i had no idea dr. watson had made his appearance about that time as well, i've read a chat log made during the event, and i know of some synopsies of the episodic content, perhaps i should review them more completley...

as for the male bahro following yeesha out of the cavern to buy explorers time to write ages, i've never heard mention of that before, but it's an excellet segwue into open source...

perhaps like alot of things in myst "he" is up to intrepretation...?

I always thought it was either Esher or the return of Kadish. It could also be Watson, though.

I don't think there's a definitive answer to this question, given Uru never really had an "ending." I think speculation is the best we can do. Smile

As they were the only major characters besides the DRC (plus Sharper, Phil, Wheely and her friend) to appear during the year, and because it was revealed that Dr. Watson was The Stranger who freed the Bahro with the tablet:

They: The Bahro
He: Dr. Watson
I: Yeesha

never thought of Kadish...

and i've never really understood Yeesha's comment on how she had "saved" him, so that's another distinct possibility...

and dr. watson wasn't the stranger per se, i suppose he was another "stranger" in a way as the progatonist of Myst V.

but the "stranger" has always been a reference to the annonymus protagonist (your's truely, and all others for that matter) of Myst through Myst IV back prior to the URU timeline...

i doubt the original stranger could even considered to be still alive...?
even though Atrus refers to Dr. Watson as such at the end of Myst V, perhaps due to possible senility in his old age, or perhaps to equate him to the "stranger" he knew who had assisted him on so many dire occasions...

but i disgress, this isn't the point of this thread is it?

and as far as DRC characters such as Nick and Sharper, though they developed more of an impact on the story as things developed, i wouldn't have considered them crucial enough characters to be so important to yeesha, unless they had intended bigger things for them...??

From the chatlog of Dr. Watson in the city on Sept 11, 2007:

(09/11 01:27:06) BlueArrow: Do you have any clue who "he" is that phend keeps mentioning?
(09/11 01:27:53) Dr. Watson: I'd hazard to guess the "he" was likely "me"

that is very revealing in regards to the bahro and the war that occurred...

the things is though, and forgive me of any ingnorance due to having missed out on the live content, dr. watson is said to have speculated that the "he" Phend was referring to was him. how is that in anyway related to Yeesha's reference to "he" in the opening movie of URU?

also, and forgive me if i'm wrong, but "Phend" is Phill's nickname correct?

Phil often quoted or talked about Yeesha, so assuming he was making the same reference is reasonable. It's still speculation, of course (IC the phrasing by Watson was speculative too, so it's hypothetical on several levels,) but it's a logical and factually-based one. Smile

Yes, that was the username on his KI. It's short for his full name, Phil Henderson.

from the chatlog, i've come to assume that phill was terribly cryptic,

and i agree, i had inferred that watson mentioning that he was the "he" phill speaks of was speculation on his part as well.

i suppose it is safe to assume that any answer to this question may just boil down to pure speculation..?

I think a lot of the Uru plot ultimately boils down to speculation, because the game ended before where it was headed could be resolved.

i tend to think alot of the myst experience in general boils down to player interpretation, since alot of the story is told through the environment, and not the characters...

so forgive me borrowing such a tried and true line but perhaps...
... the ending has not yet been writen...

Yeesha was actually referring to C. M. Butterrich.

Watch out for him. He's bad news.
