Just so y'all know, if you follow @GoMessengers on Twitter, you'll be notified of stuff like this as soon as it happens. In my opinion, they're the most useful guild of all Cool

Oof, I can picture how big that would be. I'm not an expert on app store distribution but, if it were possible to detect what devices are associated with your Apple ID, then maybe iTunes could choose what files to download. Or it would download everything but only install the proper files for your device.

But chances are they'll be separate because I have no clue if that capability is available, and even if it were, Chogon probably wouldn't have said Riven HD would be released at a later date.

To be honest, Riven HD may just be enough to make me buy an iPad.

FYI: It's been my experience that when there is an HD version and a regular version they are two entirely separate apps. The HD version is usually only available for iPad and the regular will work for both. I personally will buy both versions of Riven because I have both iPod Touch and iPad. . . and yes, iTunes knows your iPad and iPod IDs and recognizes it when you have it "plugged in" while in the itunes site

So around Sept. 27th the beta testers got started, and now, almost a month later.......nothing. I was an alternate tester and I could have been done in a week, playing all the alternate endinngs; esp.since Myst could be completed in a day. Are beta testers banned from posting?

Er… I'm a beta tester and I'm not sure if we're banned from posting or not… I think to be safe I'll stay quiet until Cyan says it's okay to post.

Testing is still in progress and going well. There was no NDA banning us from posting that we are testing, however, I will leave any updates about release to Chogon or other Cyantists.

I will buy an iPad just for iRiven HD. However I would gladly wait for this ambitious update to be released for the Mac and PC platform one of these days. Just think, we can simply distribute the game through downloads (Steam does it) and with the added grunt of computers the visuals could be slightly updated with 3D accelerated graphical effects such as those seen from Myst IV Revelation (dust particles, cloud shadows, ocean sprays) and 5.1 surround sound.

Laughing Laughing Laughing You still need to pay people to operate those computers. Do people honestly think that computers work like on "Star Trek" and just do what people verbally tell them to do?

Also, who is "we"? Is" we" Cyan? Do you work for Cyan? Not by your profile. Is "we" the community? Riven is not open-source.

I'd be glad just to have a Riven that's HD on the PC.

It's plausible, since there is at least one cross-platform Objective-C development enviroment.

I got my iPad this past weekend - spurred by the upcoming Riven for iOS. I would have waited until sometime mid- or late- next year, but I'm anxious for Riven on iPad. There's something so - linking-book-ish about the idea.

Cyan, please hurry! Smile
