Ok, i'm going to start this ball rolling. We should make an encyclopedia for the iOS platforms.
Heres what we need:
1.Sources (plenty of 'em)
2.A list of what to include (e.g. clock, enclycopedia Rolling Eyes links)
3. Formatters (to organize the app)
and, finally:
4. Programmers. (you know who you are)
Now, of course, we need a name. My (working) idea:
D'ni Database
Published by D'ni Researcher Initiative ( do we need any legal mumbo-jumbo or copyrights on the name to use it?)
Also, permission from Cyan and our sources.

That'd be quite the undertaking, considering all of the stuff in the MystLore wiki. If it were done it'd be interesting, but we'll have to see what people say I guess.

Your idea violates a fundamental rule: One Version of the Truth.

If there's already an encyclopedia, don't make another one. Improve the original.

Also, iOS? Really? What about Android? You know...the better choice? Smile

Anyway...why an app? Why not just a website that can be accessed easily on a mobile device?

See, i was thinking an OFFLINE app. Also, this would include things such as time converter, clock, (probably not pod clock- only need one per app store)
If it is a free app, do we need some typ of bank account to give apple?

Why would you want to do an offline app for a platform that's internet-enabled? Pushing updates in packages is more annoying than having a live-updating app.

Three things in a friendly user feedback kind of a way...
I use pod clock offline on a laptop.
Not everyone is connected by an umbilical cord to the web.
/me plants a sloppy kiss on both your heads.

time to go to work.

That is true, offline availability is always important. For example, I hate programs which have only online help system. In the case of a well-designed and made application occassional updates takes only a few secs.

In that case I think some hybrid solution. Like a cache. Install the program, it downloads a copy of stuff. Regular use works off the cached copy and a background worker downloads updates.

However, I think there should be some material that should be online only. Or at least allow for that possibility. I think it's fair to say that there will be material that will update frequently, and some that is "live" and so just not available unless you're connected.

All that being said, I think the caching should be optional. I hate the idea of caching X, Y, and Z when I'm only interested in X to begin with.

So...internet enabled app (in my opinion) is the way to go anyway.

I suggest that this imagined app. is time zone programmable with a calendar function so you can programme to meet your buds online, and should be available in multiple languages with user defineable colours;)

Have you never been on a train with a mobile device - every tunnel.....no internet, no mobile access....
Out in the sticks - no internet, no mobile.
.....not every country is blanketed in a soup of microwave radiation and entwined in high speed broadband cables, we need offline functionality to cope with worldwide audience demand for this product.

hehehehe

If I had a mobile device I'd prefer an internet access before an app as well,
but Pokemon's insistence on an app and your comments, OHB, stating

I immediately thought of a very old but still in many ways very useful app,
which many will remember, but which isn't available anymore on the internet.

I've uploaded it to my MediaFire account with a few pics that I'll be posting
below here as well and maybe you could do something with that one, as
a foundation so to speak and maybe you, Pokemon or anybody else can
just use this program as an offline app and OHB can create something for
a mobile device with a more comfortable online access... Razz

Here's your clock Cool

Yeah, just an idea... Enjoy, however... /wave... Very Happy

I know who I am Smile, however I’m busy enough with other stuff that I can’t promise any significant contribution as a programmer to this project. If I can help as an iOS developer program member in other ways that aren’t too much work though, let me know.

Keep in mind that you can only set your publisher name once, so unless you plan to either publish only D’ni-related apps or pay for multiple developer program memberships, I’d choose something more generic.
