Ok, I'm starting early with my cavern project for May (more info and an FAQ coming soon) and to start I will be adding links to all the Myst soundtracks so people can buy them or listen to them on YouTube. The list is finished. Please support Robyn, Tim, and Jack and purchase or download the albums from your favorite online retailers. Also, fellow explorer Turjan's Tadjinar inspired album is down below so give it a listen.

Oh, I didn't know the Myst 4 soundtrack was on iTunes! That is great. Wonder if Myst 3 or 5 will show up there eventually.

I'm still glad I bought the Myst and Riven soundtracks before they sort of went out of print.

First of all, THANK YOU for this listing! I have 4 of the 6 CDs and now can add another to my collection (off to purchase Exile!).

However, Revelations is not available except as a download -- correct? And Peter Gabriel's piece, Curtains, is not available at all except on the YouTube channel, yes?

Now I just have to decide if my wallet will accept me downloading 24 tracks at a buck a pop to get Revelations... Smile

revelation is on cd.
There are two versions of curtains available: "Curtains (B-side)" on the album "So+" on iTunes (only first two verses) and "Curtains - Broad Mix" from "Uscita" on Womadshop.com which has all the verses and is a closer version.

There's also the option of extracting it from the game but... that's another story.

Or you could make a save point before you lay down in the chamber and just load from that each time you want an awesome visualization for an awesome song!

Wisteria, if you decide to download Revelation, don't buy each track individually!! Amazon has the whole album for $8.99. I'd prefer a tangible CD as well, but this is the best mp3 deal I've seen so far.

Trek, you might note that Dilandau3000's Youtube playlist for Myst IV Revelation does not include all the songs from the original soundtrack, but it does have several songs from the game that were not on the soundtrack. These all seem to be songs that could be extracted from the game.

And Uru has a bunch of songs not on the soundtrack. Now I've extracted these myself, but what would be the legality for making these available for download? The game itself is free at the moment, and I extracted the songs with free software, but could one still distribute its songs freely? I don't deal with music stuff enough to know all about the intricacies of free use; could someone help me out with that?

Technically it would be legal as long as the ones we put up were not on the original soundtrack. The YouTube video's are protected under fair use and parody rights. As far as Dilandau's playlist is concerned I didn't even check if it was any different from the soundtrack. When I checked Myst and Riven over to make sure I figured the others were fine since his a mega fan and LP'er. Smile If you want to upload them to Mediafire in a .zip and post the link I'll be glad to put it under the list.

Technically it wouldn't be remotely legal (you don't have the right to distribute someone else's work unless they explicitly tell you that you can), but would it be okay? Yeah probably. Like you said it's all stuff that's free now anyway.

I'm no legal expert but this strikes me as patently false. The concepts of fair use and parody are pretty murky legal areas, and maybe if you were actually using them to make parodies or reviews or educational videos you'd have some kind of legal ground under the hazy "fair use" umbrella, but just uploading somebody else's music onto youtube isn't covered or protected by anything. Videos get deleted from youtube all the time for that sort of thing. That said, again I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't, because I don't think there's anything morally wrong with it, but the thing that protects videos like that isn't the fair use laws, it's the fact that the copyright holders either haven't noticed or don't care.

Sorry, I don't really want to start arguments about that sort of thing but the statement just kind of baffled me.

Also, dang that the Myst IV soundtrack is a dollar cheaper on Amazon when I already downloaded it from iTunes. Guess I should have done some research before buying.

Well, here it is - my *little* Uru music collection.

http://www.mediafire.com/?hiw3c29rwhhtq

Ron Hayter's Riveal site helped me a bunch with tracking down songs in the Uru Live files. (Although, I found a few that he either missed or chose not to include.) Should you wish to extract the Uru music for yourself, his site is a good place to start. I made sure to extract all the music at 192 kbps for all you audiophiles. Razz The only adjustments I made were applying a fade in/fade out to several of the ambient songs so that they wouldn't cut off harshly, as well as combining similar ambient tracks together like Gahreesen Ambience and Er'cana Ambience. Here's my suggested track listing, along with file names and some notes.

1. Cyan Worlds Logo - Intro1.bik (Audio only)
2. Uru Live Intro - URULiveIntro.bik (Audio only. Couldn't remove Yeesha's voice, sorry.)
3. Relto Ambience - psnlAmb_Loop.ogg
4. Airstream - clftOpenMusic.ogg (same as on soundtrack)
5. Zandi's Radio - clftZandiRadio_Loop.ogg
6. Yeesha's Message - clftYeesha_IntroMusic.ogg
7. The Bahro - clftBookRoomMusic_Loop.ogg (same as on soundtrack)
8. Spore Me - tldnSporeMe_Loop.ogg (same as on soundtrack)
9. Baron's Theme - tldnUpperShroomMusic_Loop.ogg (same as on soundtrack)
10. Sharper's Office - tldnBaronCityMusic_Loop.ogg
11. Slave Room - tldnSlaveCaveAmb_Loop.ogg
12. Phil's Relto - psnlAmbNight_Loop.ogg
13. The Well - grsnInteriorMusic_Loop.ogg (same as on soundtrack)
14. Convergence - grsnExteriorMusic_Loop.ogg (same as on soundtrack)
15. Gahreesen Ambience - grsnRandTCMusic01.ogg, grsnRandTCMusic02.ogg, grsnRandTCMusic03.ogg
16. Fortress Corridors - grsnTCBridgeMusic.ogg
17. Training Wall - grsnTrainingWallMusic01.ogg
18. Gallery Theme - islmGalleryMusic_Loop.ogg (same as on soundtrack)
19. Moon Room - kdshMoonRoomMusic_Loop.ogg
20. The Vault - kdshPillarSolution_Loop.ogg (same as on soundtrack)
21. Future Vault - kdshX2VaultMusic.ogg
22. Rain in the Desert - tmnaYeesha_FinalMusic02.ogg
23. Freed Bahro - tmnaBahro_EndMusic.ogg
24. Yeesha's Theme - tmnaYeesha_FinalMusic01.ogg (same as on soundtrack)
25. Great Shaft - dsntRestAreaMusic_Loop.ogg (same as on Myst V soundtrack. Not the Uru soundtrack.)
26. Egg Room - nb01PrivateRoom_Loop.ogg
27. Guild Pub - gpubAmbience.ogg
28. Kahlo Pub - islmCavernMusic_Loop.ogg (shortened version of "Fall of D'ni" from soundtrack)
29. Hall of Kings - islmPalaceMusic_Loop.ogg
30. Library Exterior - islmLibraryMusic_Loop.ogg
31. The Library - islmLibraryInteriorMusic.ogg (same as on soundtrack)
32. Minkata Ambience - minkBadlandsMiddle.ogg

34. Kiva Discovery - minkBadlands-CaveMusic.ogg (slightly different version of "Badlands" from soundtrack)
35. Constellations - minkConstellations.ogg

37. Ahnonay Cathedral - ahnyCathedralMusic.ogg
38. Third Sphere - ahnySphere03-Amb01_Loop.ogg
39. Control Room Four - ahnySphere04-Amb02_Loop.ogg
40. Fourth Sphere - ahnySphere04-Amb01_Loop.ogg
41. Er'cana Ambience - ErcaMusSeg01-0.ogg, ercaMusSeg02-1.ogg, ErcaMusSeg03-2.ogg
42. Harvester Ride - ercaHarvesterMusic.ogg
43. Season Finale - kverSeasonFinaleMx.ogg
44. K'veer - KVeerMusic.ogg
45. Myst Library - mystLibraryMusic_loop.ogg
46. Credits - tmnaCreditsMusic.ogg
47. First Link - Feast of the Maker - (downloaded from old Uru Obsession site; does not appear in-game)
48. Uru Unknown Song - (found here. Don't know its origin.
49. Uru Soundtrack Medley - (downloaded from old Uru Obsession site)

The tracks "Atrus Open, Beyond Gira, Out of the Hive, Badlands, Trailer Music, Fall of D'ni, and Dirt" from the soundtrack were not in the files, thus they are not included here. Otherwise, this collection has every piece of Uru-related music that I know of. So! Fellow Uru fanatics, what did I miss? Laughing
