It probably has to do with timing. The sooner you start updating after the update is there, the more likely it is that lots of people are updating at the same time.

Plus, maybe you just have a faster connection that the others do. *shrugs*

I updated almost as soon as the update was ready & it only took me a couple of minutes, so I think it's just faster internet connection

Morning satelite, if you have not already done so, delete the TOS.txt file and relaunch. This will force the patcher to check your files and redownload any that are corrupt or missing. If the file has been reported but Norton Anti-virus is still sensitive to it, you may want to temporarily disable it during the process. Just make sure you turn the protection back on after you are finished.

As far as an IC explanation, I have thought that maybe a couple ResEngs working for Laxman come down every three weeks for quick maintenance of the lattice. Yesterday, they came down a bit early and quickly implemented security fixes by explorers. Thanks to the voices of the explorers and the research and work by dragossh, they also implemented the name "Hood" for future neighborhood registrations. Two ResEngs named Chogon and ResEng M. Dogherra tested the change with the opening of Chogon's Hood. They left it listed in the nexus when they left and explorers (including myself) discovered it and realized the change that occured.

If Chogon does not consider himself IC as a ResEng (at least for the name "Chogon"), then that story does not completely work. Ultimately, we can let dragossh decide on the story, as long as it fits canon.

Please help the computer illiterate!!! I've tried every suggestion all of you have made here, turned off virus protection (don't have Norton but turned mine off anyway, tried to run as administrator (yes, went to compatibility and checked box for administrator), deleted TOS text file...all I still get is the box that comes up that says initializing patch and nothing happens. Does anyone have any other suggestions besides these? I'm completely stumped and going through MOUL withdrawal...
Thanks for reading!

From Common Problems and How To Solve Them

Quote:

This indicates that there is more than one patcher currently running. To solve this problem:

1.) Open the Task Manager (ctrl + alt + del)
2.) Click the "Processes" tab
3.) Select UruLauncher.exe
4.) Click the "End Process" button
5.) Click the "Yes" button on the dialog that appears

Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 for every UruLauncher.exe in the process list. Once they are all closed. You can restart the patcher.

Or if that seems too much trouble simply reboot and try again.

These were patches to the KI that were provided by Paradox a long time ago (about 10 months ago). I'll have to figure out on Monday why they seemingly didn't show up until now (I noticed that Grey Hats xKI didn't have Paradox's changes so I merged them back in - more to figure out on Monday).

You're the one that said we should stick to the security fix for the first batch Razz

Any idea why it does not convert ErcanaCitySilo to D'ni-Ashem'en?

Because there's nothing to convert for that. I fixed it in my fork of the scripts and will push the changes shortly.

The changes can be found here, if anyone or Chogon wants to take them. I also made a pull request for them, so hopefully they'll get merged into the GoW branch at one point.

For those still battling the ugly Norton Hates Everything issues, I finally kicked Norton to the curb and went to Avast at the recommendation of a computer tech friend. There is a basic version that is free http://www.avast.com/index though the paid one is a good deal as well (if you want or need what it offers) or at least was when I got it (three computers for two years service at price of Norton for one year).
I no longer have the long log on issues or game crashes in spite of telling Norton over and over and over again THIS IS AN OK PROGRAM!!! I tell Avast once and it is happy. I am sure others have good suggestions for other antivirus programs that are also as good but not as fussy as Norton is with everything it encounters.

Today, I just right clicked on my MOUL icon, ran as administrator and within 5 minutes had the download and was in. I know for sure with Norton it would have been a major drill if not playing with settings and following the Common Problems & how to solve them and killing quite a bit of time to get it going. (I really dislike Norton...)

hi

as far as I can tell, last time I saw Norton, it just deleted a file from my USB key WITHOUT notice or warning or asking...

I don't care about what it found or thought it found bad in this file, I really hate to see a security software acting like this

So thx but no thx. I personnally use Avast too and it's perfectly fine to me.
