Post Posted: Sat Jun 11, 2011 12:35 am — Post subject: Celebrate Music: Radio KTDN 6th Anniversary

Six years.
2005-June-19: My first musical event. (in-game voice chat)
2005-December-23: First Up On the Roof! party (Teamspeak)
2006 September? October? High fidelity comes to the Cavern via Ashtar's Shoutcast server
And just about every Saturday since then, with some special events thrown in.

Performance is a two-way process. People make suggestions as they listen to the music, and I do research. Some of them get added to the music collection, helping it grow to the current 2060 albums and widening my musical perceptions, and eventually those of my listeners. It's a musical journey we take together.

I think that's worth celebrating, so on June 18 I'm going to start broadcasting early and see where we go. I'll be in the Watcher's Sanctuary at some time, and in Second Life sometimes. There will be music of many kinds. Maybe even opera. (there went the listeners... Smile ).

Radio KTDN 6th Anniversary
June 18
Start time: 0800 Pacific (possibly earlier), 1100 Eastern US, 1500 GMT
End time: 2000 Pacific (probably)
Location: Various
Server address: http://radioktdn.zapto.org:8025
You can use any media player to open that URL. Make sure you have a colon : before the 8025. In my experience, Itunes has been the most reliable. Winamp used to be great, but newer versions are crash-prone.

Tune in. None of us knows what will happen.

Welcome back, LC, it's great to see you here and it is even more great
that you decided to celebrate your Anniversary with us in the Cavern of D'ni... Razz

So, let's celebrate this legend of epic proportions, which you really are, LC, and the legacy of
D'niJ-ship and entertainment in general in Uru, which brought forth some real good musical artists
and entertainers dedicated to music and to serve and just entertain the community and thus keeping
the dream alive and the waters flowing...

This is no overstatement at all, and this goes to all the newly Called, he was and is not only a legendary D'niJ,
but he also was one of those legendary Greeters in UruLive/UU/D'Mala/MOUL of the olden days, where they
really and from their heart served the community and esp. all new explorers almost 24/7 and you could really
always rely on them... Actually, not only the Greeters were those servants to all, they were only very special
and unique in their kindness, their dedication and endurance... This whole energy was actually very contagious lol...
You entered the cavern and were almost instantly very gently being cared for and helped in any lovely way and you
immediately got the inner urge to help and to do something for anybody and thus the whole... It was absolutely
astounding and wonderful...

Yeah, this and so much more is the reason why we are all still here and why the cavern still flourishes sometimes
more sometimes less and explorers like him, our LC, have contributed to that, everyone in their own special way and
they still carry that energy... Just see our Marten right now, always kind and helping for years and atm acting as a real
great Mediator in a wonderful and selfless way, if I may take this as another shining example...
(This all applies also to those he's trying to unite right now... So, my reverence goes to those as well... Smile)

Those people layed the foundation and you feel and sense their heart and soul, their love and their dedication in every
nook and cranny in the whole D'niverse, they have really given EVERYTHING 24/7 for years for Uru and the community,
just in case anybody of the newly arrived would ever wonder why so many of those have gone now or for the time being...

Yeah, I always wanted to express this all esp. to the newly arrived and those who keep wondering about whatever
came before and is going on right now or whenever... I hope it is ok, LC, that I used your celebration of exactly those
times and years I've briefly described above and thus presenting you as a glowing and shining example... Smile

Sounds indeed like a very good plan, LAHI and all... See you all then in the Watcher's Sanctuary, Up on the Roof or
where ever in D'ni on the 18th... /waves... Very Happy

Edit: OMG, it is almost unexcusable that I forgot to mention Ktahdn as important part of the above described
Uru generation... In case you're reading this, dearest Ktahdn, accept my apology and expression of thanks for everything... Very Happy

Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing stretching every nerve
Had to listen had no choice
I did not believe the information
I just had to trust imagination
My heart going boom boom boom
"Son," he said "Grab your things,
I've come to take you home."

Happy anniversary & I'll be there!

Pilot of the airwaves
Here is my request
You don't have to play it
But I hope you'll do your best
I've been listening to your show
On the radio
And you seem like a friend to me. Very Happy

That's the song that will forever be linked in my mind to Lord Chaos. So appropriate too because I first knew him as a D'niJ and over time by attending his events, came to know him better and now consider him a dear friend. (I'll bet I'm not the only one who feels that way.)

Janaba, what a lovely post (as always) and IMO very appropriate here. However, your "Welcome back" startled me; perhaps that's because I don't think of LC as being very far away from Uru for any length of time when I can listen to his show every Saturday from 17:00 to 20:00 Pacific time (Midnight GMT). Very Happy

For anyone who doesn't know Lord Chaos (or even if you do), please check out his story here.

EDIT: As anyone knows who knows Lord Chaos, he often inspires creativity in others... sparks their imaginations... makes them downright silly sometimes. So, somehow a conversation with Jane and Kimmie about how he could be in both MOUL & SL at the same time during his event turned into an idear for everyone to try to dress like him for the event (only in MOUL; don't try this in SL - he dresses like a monk there. Laughing ) So, I snagged a couple of KI shots of him to post and confirmed that all the items are also available to female avatars. See the images in the spoiler tag and come dressed as Lord Chaos during his anniversary event if you are inclined.

This was really Kimmie's and Jane's idea, but they made me post about it because I can post images and they can't. Razz

Re: Staffing

1. Has anyone seen Vinnie? I left him a message but heard nothing. A few days later, two guys showed up saying they'd been sent to help. Does anyone know anything about Manny Kottey and Ralph V. Ole? They say they're with a catering outfit but they don't exactly look like cooks... Dare we trust them with the pizza ovens?

2. I've gotten sporadic reports about the rotties wandering into various ages. Have they learned how to link without books and people?

3. I just saw the bill for landscaping in the Secret Music Lab. Yikes! How are we going to pay for all those trees Ktahdn put in?

Thank you.

Only two more days...

I may be late arriving in the cavern, but when I do, I'll be wearing the LC-imposter outfit. Wink

I know you plan to be at the Healers Retreat in Second Life at some point during the day, so here's the slurl to the Secret Music Lab Sphere. I know you can't predict exactly when you will be coming there yourself, but your listeners are welcome to come there at any time. I will try to get into SL early that morning to set the landserver to Radio KTDN, but just in case I can't, I've set up a station changer in the Music Lab that anyone can touch to set the station to KTDN. It looks like a music scroll and is just below the dance ball. Anyone can use it to change the landserver station, but it only has the one choice. Wink

Btw, I hope you don't mind that I sent an announcement about it to the D'ni Refugees group with a link to this thread.

Don't worry; it's covered. Wink

Well I just spent a rather painful 20 minutes in my Closet, trying to replicate the LC "look." Laughing Such a unique fashion sense he has! Razz And the women's clothes aren't really the same, except for the Birkenstocks, but I did the best I could, dying the leather jacket purple & the short cargoes red. Not sure I'll be able to stand looking at myself like that all day--thank heaven for first-person! Laughing And for SL, where I'll be able to slide back into my comfy jeans. Cool

(It occurs to me to wonder, though: did we mess up, Tai? Shouldn't we be dressing like Ktahdn rather than LC? Although I can't remember exactly what Kt wears in MOULa. Arrgh.)

I am really looking forward to the party in any case. Woohoo! Very Happy LC, could you please let Kt know that this contingent of the RVG is planning to report promptly at 8 Pacific, 9 KI time--armed with a big pot of coffee and a HUMONGOUS batch of Extremely Special Breakfast Brownies. (Breakfast served all day! Smile ) Did anybody ever track down Vinnie?

/shrug - I'm just going by the only KI shot I took of whomever it was. Wink

Below is my version of the outfit and I sent you a KI shot of it to share if you like.

See you all sometime after 10ish Cavern time.

How in the world am I going to have a dignified, reshpectabiggle party wit all these shenandoagoins on going on? Hmm?

This is an honorabubble party. Nothing can go wrong (tic) go wrong (tic) go wrong... (Kt, pick up the needle!)
