I'm surprised no one has said this one yet (or maybe i missed it).

We have serious traffic cones here in the UK that stand close to a metre high. It would be nice to have some of these babies to kick around in the cavern. Also the white stripe variety and the infamous black-base specimen. Not to mention the cone with a light on top, the radio cone, the Dalek cone... oh someone please stop me! Twisted Evil

And would a waffle cone be too much to ask for?

Oh yeah...no hands!

Sort of, but not totally, along these lines... I'd like to see a variety of more realistic barriers than just the traffic cones we have now.

It's hard to maintain realism sometimes when we're able to make 25-30 foot leaps off the edges of cliffs, but can't climb hop more than 3 feet over a traffic cone, cylinder, or saw-horse.

If barriers are going up, let's make them *real* barriers (head-height or higher) or electrically charged in nature -- using fire-marbles perhaps? Something that visibly justifies our inability to get around them. Use barrieries not at doorways or at the bottom of stairwells (where they could be easily climbed around) but at "choke-points" or half-way up a stairwell where there's no safe way to bypass them.

The DRC mentioned "our security measures" in their absence but, except for Nexus-tweaking and the code in Kirel, nothing in the cavern prevented us from moving around. Confused

But yes, more types of warning cones would be good too! Very Happy

Well, that would contradict the entire point of the game, wouldn't it?

I HATE cones! They should be banned from the game!

They are NOT D'ni. They are DRC CONTROL TOOLS. Brought from the surface to muck up the beauty and ambiance of D'ni.

Cones, Barriers, and ANYTHING DRC Control freaks have left behind should all be removed.

Please include all generators, wiring, lights, boxes and tents.

Historical books, notes and information from the DRC can be stored in a seperate section of the library.

That's just MHO...Smile

Hey now! Remember: The cones and barricades are there for our protection!

You think the DRC are control freaks, just ponder what would happen if a full fledged archaeological team ever got a hold of D'ni. We'd never explore again!

Very Happy Cones are there for a purpose – they mean you can’t go there. In Prologue (the earlier Uru Live test that was closed down). They were placed as you see them now in the home game – and believe me – there’s nothing behind them.

Some of the areas you see now in Uru were at first inaccessible in Prologue, and as I anticipate – it'll be the same in Uru Live soon to be released, there will be cones set up barring our way to areas that haven’t been developed yet. You have to wait until they are removed before you can gain full access.

That didn’t stop Explorers trying to scale them and have a preview of the new area – soon to be accessible. Watching guys trying to negotiate these cones just to get an early peek of what was in store was hilarious. Some didn’t make it at all – I have to confess that it did take certain dexterity to climb over them – but then, you weren’t meant to climb over them.

If a lot of Explorers were around and a lot of lag set in – you had no chance. But log in at a later time when there wasn’t many about and it was a lot easier. The exhilaration on being able to circumvent that barrier was second to none, coupled with the exasperated ‘I’ve had a look at the new area – haven’t you been there yet?’ message you dispatched on your Ki to your buddies in the neighbourhood. Well… there’s little to match that. I say we keep the cones and Cyan does exactly what they did before. I have do doubt that they will tease us with little examples such as the one I’ve just mentioned.

As a point of interest – it was always the Explorer’s with the higher than recommended systems that were able to leap over these barriers.

Bring on the cones!

I'm thinking we get a bunch of explorers together and do a fan-film in the cavern. We could call it "Attack of the Cones".

Hey, just look what happened to Phil. He didn't think cones were important either.

Speaking of cones... I came across a startling sight a little while back. I took a picture, and can't help but wonder if some fellow explorer with a case of cone-frustration didn't happen along a little before me.

Hey, Cyan needs to make a rule against posting picture of cone-abuse on their forum. It feels...wrong.

I, I know, guys. It felt wrong to me too. But I feel I needed to post this picture, to let everyone know the realities of what is going on in the world.

We need to take action against this kind of thing, not against the realities of it being brought to our attention!
