Thanks Chogon for doing some research! I'm glad to hear it doesn't have anything to do with bad vault nodes.

2) There is some rapid login, set avatar, unset avatar, logout sequences, which is repeated by the same several people around the time leading up to when the KI issue started. Which does cause a number of errors in the vault notifier (the thing that sends out the notification of player online status and location in game). It is possible that the rapid timing (faster than the normal client can do) is getting the server into a strange timing situation that messes up its internal notification tables.

Could this be login, set avatar, crash; with the Auth server creating "virtual" unset and logout messages? Or were the unset & logout messages definitely sent by the client code?

Yeah this is my first thought as well. The last two times the server's been restarted, the first time I try to login I've been getting an error while trying to Set Avatar then crash. If I start up again and login, it works. I know other people have experienced that as well. It been happening on a per-avatar basis from what I can tell.

As promise and to respect community members who weren't not in the Guilds' Meeting today:

I apologized to Semplerfi for having said something wrong on this thread and I reiterate now.

I apologize also to all Slackers too. They might not even care about what I wrote but I prefer keeping good relation with all groups

and now for another matter...I have to work hard because I committed myself today and I'm not ready...but October has 31 days so expect what I told at Guilds' Meeting inside this 31 days frame.

If you are still wondering what is the link with the Frozen KI, there is none Laughing but the vault is the node here Wink...the vault has a great importance Very Happy

Hey no problem Annabelle, excepted. I can easily understand your concern and would be a little perturbed myself with what you have going.

Great presentation today. Thanking you.

Sounds like you have some exciting stuff lined up for folks. Cool

so what chogon said maid a bell ring. i sometimes used the WhoM software (i know i'm not alone) to extract pics from the game. I already thought to stop using it because of the small size of the pics (therefore quite useless).

Could this be a part of the problem?

I inquired as well and was assured that WhoM is not responsible. WhoM has also been experiencing the same misinformation as the Ki.

WhoM cannot be ruled out so quickly. As well as anything that connects to the MOULa servers, including crashing clients and misbehaving servers. If WhoM is the culprit then it doesn't mean that it is a bad thing - just more research is needed to find the cause and make corrections.

And BTW, just because something experiences the same issues doesn't mean it can't be the one that caused it.

Thanks,

I was going to make a big dramatic post Friday morning about how perilously insanely dangerous a vault cleanup would be... Then Genetics happened. Looks like I've been beaten to the punch anyway Razz

I think I would agree with Chogon and say that WhoM should not be the cause of these issues. It can only switch avatars as quickly as a user can change the state of the dropbox. Honestly, the only legitimate gameplay behavior I can think of matching the description we're given would be the mass linkings we've done a couple of times in The Fun House. Otherwise, either something is seriously misbehaving or someone is being malicious. Unfortunately, the latter is not totally unfounded ("Kilroy was here" anyone?).

Chogon: WhoM clients and anything else using my older generation C# code can be identified by the OS value it sends ("MUd 2"). If it *is* causing a problem, then I'd be interested to know more.

This is not to take this topic off-topic but if WhoM is not causing these issues then is there anyway I can get a copy? I was sorely disappointed to hear support had ended prematurely.

This should be identical to the last released version. Expect no further support or bugfixes from me (unless WhoM really is the source of the KI issues, of course). I have rewritten the entire core architecture from the ground up and am planning to rewrite the front end as well. This will naturally take some time Wink

Thanks a bunch, this was not the expected response! So far it's great; I'm really hoping it isn't causing the issues so I can keep using it.

Or if it is Adam could just fix whatever's causing the interference.

routine MOULa server maintenance outage currently in progress. let's see if this provides another variable with which to help resolve this issue...
