This is interesting...

I sure hope it's true! And while we're at it, some news from idoodlesoftware...

I'd rather see realMYST 3D. It would make much more sense, plus the circle pad would be ideal for navigation.

It'd be even better if it were realMYST with updated assets and graphics like OoT3D and SF643D.

The thought of porting that ancient Plasma version to the 3Ds fills me with terror. I doubt we'll ever see RealMYST on another platform unless Cyan gets some serious funding from a publisher, or unless they decide they want to share the Plasma 1 code with the community.

This is true...

Either way, as long as it doesn't turn into Myst DS I'm happy.

surprises can happen. would be nice if Cyan is working on this themselves, rather than just another slapped together port to a new system... although it sure would be nice for them to have an honest to god original IP project in the works.

Well well well, a month later and Play.com in the UK has a listing on their site with an estimated retail price of £24.99, which is roughly equal to $39.99 dollars. Not bad if it's a good port and in 3D.

But is it real? Surely there would've been some kind of announcement from Cyan themselves?

You would wonder. But, Myst DS and Myst PSP never got announcements from Cyan since they were ported by other companies. Likewise, Cyan never announced their partnership with idoodle software either. So I'm going to bet there's a good chance this is real; especially if a retailer decided to get a pre-order listing up.

It's real! An Amazon listing appeared!
http://www.amazon.com/Myst-nintendo-3ds/dp/B005OSFUDK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1321893649&sr=8-4
According to the listing it will be $29.99 (ten dollars less than the Play.com listing) with the original game remastered in 3D and complete with a version of Rime. Here's the box art.

I hate to say it but, I'm concerned about what environmental gasses our falling man is spewing out there.

It's also listed at nintendo3dsshops.com . It says "In stock" next to the Add to Cart button but lower down the page it confirms that it's not actually available until Feb '12.

Only credit is to "Maximum Family Games" - no mention of Cyan anywhere and no sign of a Cyan logo on the packaging image. And it's not mentioned on the Cyan Worlds products list, so presumably another 3rd party port, with Cyan only getting a thin slice of the pie if anything.
