The planning meting went well, thank you to all who showed up(all 3 of you Smile). I will have more news of the event later on. I was going to post the sound recording (voice chat) somewhere and link to it with the chat log but I decided that any important information I will be putting here in coming days.

(if you do want eather of the logs let me know(PM or Kmial), the voice chat will take a while to edit and post)

Jamie, I can sum up the meeting and you can correct anything I get wrong, okay?

You want to hold an event for the purpose of summoning Cyan to the cavern and make it fun for everyone who participates in the process. The basic idea is to ask people to dress in either all blue (Cyan) or all yellow (gold) and then form the Cyan Worlds logo around the fountain while humming the Cyan Worlds theme music.

The purpose of the meeting was to get the opinions of others on things like the best day/date/time/location and finding the best voice chat program so everyone could hum together in harmony.

The humming part sounds like fun - for those who will be using it. Just keep in mind that not everyone will, so if you want the max number of participants, don't make it sound like this is a requirement. And, then, during the event, make sure that those not using the outside voice program don't feel left out. (I don't know if it's even possible, but it would be ideal if the humming could be broadcast to listeners through something like Shoutcast.)

Day & Time: You suggested a Friday afternoon because that's when Cyan would be in the office and there's a good chance that some people will be able to get off work to participate. That would also allow many Europeans to participate. So, I think that's a good day & general time. Still need to narrow it down to a specific time.

Location: In an earlier post, I suggested that you get a good cavern photographer to take a picture of the formation. I was thinking of the excellent ones who have posted in the Uru Photography thread. You might want to PM a few of them to ask it they'd be willing to do that and then get their advice on the best location for getting the best picture.

Have I forgotten anything?

I am "bumping" this thread so that people will see that the event is now on the 30th, for I need a bit more time to get things ready. Also I could use some expert photographers to take a picture of us forming the logo, if someone could please do this, I would appshate it.

OK Adam said we can use the Guild of Writers sever for the event. Te Mumble client can be found here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mumble/files/Mumble/1.2.3a/mumble-1.2.3a.msi/download. Use of the client is optional.

Once installed connect to guildofwriters.org and chose a user name. With that we should have what we need for the event. Since it might inconvenience some of you when I moved the event I am changing it back to it's original time, I am sorry I did not take that into account when moving the event. Sad

Finally I was wondering weather someone could please take the output from Mumble and input into a stream? This would be for those to here how don't want to hum or just want to listen.

Don't you think it should be somewhere that cyan's more likely to check occasionally, like the city?

I think Cyan and most people will go where there is lots of people, so if there are lots of people in a hood they will go there Smile. Also I am hoping Cyan will be reading this post and know where to go. Smile Lastly I want to use the funtion in the hood as the logo bass. But you do have a really good point there, keep trying to find possible problems with my plans /thumbsup.(I'm NOT being sarcastic, there is only 4 days left till the event and I want to make sure there are no "bugs" in it.)

Took at look at some server options for streaming the humming and I can probably afford up to 100 additional listeners. I highly doubt we'll need that many, so I may just go for 50 or 75. How many people might we be expecting here (let's be realistic...)

Go with the minimum. Even the most popular events rarely top 50 people listening at once. And, you won't be broadcasting to the actual hummers.

Based on forum activity on this thread and the THREE people who came to the planning meting I would say 30 MAX.

Jamie, may I suggest that you change the title of this thread to something more definite like, "Summoning Cyan to the Cavern" and post all the pertinent details in your original post?
