I'm with Mowog, and Chuckster; 2 Cents to help context here, that I had learned:
"Dear Esther" has been around for a while as a (free, I think,) development "Mod" (new "Age" in Uru language) to Valve's "Half Life" MMO on Steam, and is still available for download from Desura if you have Half Life already.
It had a reputation for breaking the polycount limitations...and was said to be somewhat buggy, with astounding Graphics. This cought my attention, in the general scheme of things, since it could have possible relevance to MOULa evolution, I thought.
So when Steam announced that they would 'unlock' (Release) a developed "Standalone" version of "Dear Esther" on 2/14/12, I immediately signed up and loaded $$ for the event. I was not disappointed. The Landscape is Huge
I run a low end graphics (3) Media PC with a dual Processor (4.8 ) score; it only tripped twice, but slowed in certain areas, like MOULa can, when loaded.
The Story Line is more like a single thread Marker game with candles as Markers, 1st person view, and there are no exploit opportunities worth noting, I think; but it draws you back to the core trauma scene of a psychological Detective hunt. Reviewers couldn't figure how to classify this 'Game', one reviewer said it was selling "Unhapiness"; "Extreme PTSD" (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) is the best description that I could come up with...
Whatever, it's a new Genre perhaps. But then Half Life might be called "Extreme Trauma
and PTSD" I couldnt possibly comment...(I threw it off my PC years ago to preserve sentient blood pressure

)
Like MOULa, Dear Esther may stand as a milestone on the road to better Virtual Reality Graphics, I think. For that , it is well worth experiencing.
