For the past few days my KI isn't updating itself with respect to player online status'. People come online and say hi and my KI says they're offline, and when they go off it says they're still online.

Yes, this seems to be a widespread issue. I'm having it too, and some explorers tell me they suffer from it from time to time.

Shorah PeterC and welcome to the forum. This is a long-standing bug that comes up from time to time and affects everyone when it does. It's usually cleared up when the periodic maintenance is performed. Until then, the best you can do to cope with it is to re-log so you can see your friends. Of course, then they might not be able to see you, but at least you'll be aware of it and can send them a message accordingly - ex: "You might not be able to reply to me, so let's meet in the city."

Usually what I do when this type of issue occurs is to leave one avatar in her Relto. When someone new pops up I just log off and re-load the same avatar.

It takes 3 secs overall, no need to actually quit the game.

You have a refresh of both: the "ghost" buddies who are long gone away of server finally disappear and the "new coming ghost" are no longer ghost anymore. Smile

I apply the same doing transfer of KI-mails, pictures and marker games between avatars.

Hope it can help you or anyone else playing uru.

P.S.: This will be a "hard to cope" weekend, I think the maintenance will occur next monday if I'm not mistaken.

In the past this bug has normally affected only one player, who then doesn't appear on my buddy list, they usually come to the city anyway, so I wait and chat to them then.

But last it it was crazy, everyone that came online, I had to log out, and log back in again, and yes, I mean everyone that came online. My KI also wasn't updating whether they were still online or not, I only knew when I logged out & back in again.

As I have said, we've had this bug before, but I've never seen it that bad.
I realise we may not be due for another server reset for a week, but I think we need one now (Monday).

Actually this widespread bug has occured many times, see this thread:
http://mystonline.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=25136&highlight=frozen

If you wait the next server re-boot will fix this issue.

I meant one player at a time, not every single player that came online.
My apologies for not making my post clear.

From the "Frozen KI" topic:

rha3l wrote:

Everyone having KI problems tonight. The KI isn't updating where players are in the game, buddies/neighbours coming online do not appear on your lists & players who've gone offline don't disappear off your lists.

For example if my buddie Player A was in Relto when I logged in, my KI still tells me Player A's location as Relto even if we happen to be sitting chatting in Ae'gura. Then another buddie, Player B comes online & says hello. I can hear Player B but I cannot reply because as far as my KI is concerned Player B is offline. Meanwhile a third buddie, Player C has gone offline, but because Player C was online when I logged in, Player C is still showing on my buddies list.

This KI bug also effects KI mail. It sends ok, but the recipient won't receive it until they log in again.
Likewise, the hood can only be made public/private if you log out & back in again after doing so.

seems to me that's exactly what you described seeing last night Alien, and this bug has occured enough times that "Frozen KI" topic is now 6 pages long. This bug was occuring regularly, almost once between every server re-boot, and at one point got so bad it happened immidiately after a server re-boot, but after a couple of days everything went back to working as it was supposed to & this bug has been less common since then. But it does still happen now & again. & the single avatar KI bug has been less common since this more wide-spread bug took it's place. Kind of like a cold developing into the flu I guess.

What I'm told is that these problems occur due to the vault cache (essentially the working copy of the vault data) becoming corrupt. However, changes are correctly written to the underlying database. After a server restart, the cache is purged and all data is reloaded from the database itself and everything is hunky-dory. For a while. At some random point an event (of unknown origin) will occur that messes up the cache, usually in a minor way. Over time, more of these events occur and things get worse and the problem becomes more visible.

Since the restarts consume a little of the donation fund, the three week interval between them is a balance between "nuisance" and "cost" (and it also fits in with the same cycle applied to MagiquestOnline since the support folks tend to restart one server and then the other on the same morning).

Is this a factor to the pellet issues (split #'s) as well, or maybe?

I don't know. I've never experienced that particular problem. If it was related to vault cache issues then I'd expect it to be cleared up after a restart and if it did then subsequently reappear it might affect a different avatar. But if it persists after a restart or always affects the same avatar then I suspect it's unrelated.

It is directly related and normally disappears with the restart. So far,,, I have retained the larger of the two pellet splits although I've never had more than perhaps 2K point differences.

Could i maybe suggest to make this topic (or the original one) sticky? As it comes back quite often, it would be useful to always see it on the top. Wink

Okay. the four avatars that were affected with the pellet issue were resolved with the server restart..Now three unrelated avis have it...no problem..I'm sure they will be back after the next restart...just weird.
