Fortunately, there's an option at the activation page to re-issue an activation code. I selected that, and this time I got an e-mail.
Never mind that it couldn't be a "reissue" as I never got the first one, but my account is now activated.
Edit:
I thought I should add a few words about "playing the system" on MMORPG.com. If you
check their FAQ on calculating rank, you'll see that ranking is not based on the number of posts, but rather the information you provide (quantity
and quality). Apparently, visiting the site daily will help, too. I'm not sure how forum posts are measured for quality (I don't know how they'd personally review every forum post), but I believe it behooves all of us to remain
well behaved. We are, after all, representing the Uru community! How, then, to "play the system?" Note, this is only a suggestion...
Well, while we
could encourage people to bounce over to urulive.com for more information, we
shouldn't. When I added my post to the end of the Rand Miller interview forum announcement, I specifically encouraged newcomers interested in Uru to post questions right there so I could answer them right there. By taking the opportunity to answer questions helpfully and informatively in the MMORPG.com forums, we'll build rank and gain the privilege to hype the game more.
Now behave: Don't go pretending to be a new person just to ask mock questions. That's not playing fair. But: Do seek to answer people's questions there, rather than directing them here. The idea is to build publicity over there. People who are interested enough will click in the "links" category for the game and find their way here. If someone asks for the direct URL, go ahead and give it to them, but otherwise don't hand it out
too freely because I think what we want to do is generate traffic and awareness over at MMORPG.com.
If anyone thinks my suggestion above is out of line, feel free to let me know...
