Thanks, Rawa! I did notice that Gahro- seemed a bit like a prefix to Gahreesen, but I noticed that in his "Creature" entry, Aitrus actually uses the word "Gahreesen" when referring to a small creature eating.

I think "Rezeero" is "The Great Zero" in D'ni.
Re = The
zee = Zero? I don't know, my D'ni isn't very good
(gah)ro = Great, mighty, etc...



And here's another Age name that can be translated:
Ahno = Water
Nay = Root
The "nay" is probably there to make the Age name close to "Garternay", since Ahnonay was built to replicate the home world of the Ronay. The Ahno is probably a reference to the fact that the age has lots of water.

Roon = zero

Current thinking on the DLF, thanks to Renoah and Khrees, is that the "zee" element may be related to "kahzee" (detour), having something to do with direction or orientation.

In any case, it's good to have the resident tease at least admit that we're on the right track in trying to analyze Rezeero as a legitimate word rather than D'ninglish.

Not necessarily. It is the point from which all coordinates radiate outward, so the english word 'zero' is coincidentally appropriate, even though it isn't a direct translation.

The D'ni must also have defined the central point of a system of measure as being the "zero point", since they incorporated the D'ni zero digit into the decoration of the area. But their word doesn't include "great" or "zero", so the DRC's term is not really a translation at all, but just a convenient English description.

(Does anyone else get a little tired of everything the D'ni did being prefixed with "Great"? Didn't their civilization ever invent the thesaurus? )

It might just be that we only hear about the things that are labeled "great". Would be nice to get some variety though.

That all things has the word great in it is subjective. Would like to see the small, unimportant things in the game? Logically all we see in the game are important things to history and storyline. So all those things were for D'ni people great things. When you count D'ni words for something special there are less words that haven't the word great in it.
