It's strange that no one has mentioned that "Uru" is the Sumerian word for "city".
I think that is exactly what it is: An enviornment containing many things, just like any city worth the name. It has the people, the community; it has interesting sights to see; it has fun places to go and things to do with other people or by yourself.

And you can't beat the transit system.....

I experienced real grief when URU Live ended before and I am very wary this time around. I will not be doing the beta testing for that reason. I tried Until URU and just got frustrated. Then Secondlife where I soon had to leave the other URU refugees behind. I grieved and moved on though I must say they did a marvelous job on Teledor Isle, but I can't live in a graveyard. I had completed most of URU before I got in to Live before and everyone was so busy looking for markers in the city that it was hard to make contact with anyone. I will be bringing my hubby with me for company this time though I do hope over time to meet people. I think the creators have a real challenge to create a game that will have a large enough user base to make the bottom line financially. Someone mentioned having repeatable gaming and I think that would be great. An arcade type activity to keep the speeders interested might help with that.

I thought i would at least put up my opinion. Uru isnt so much a game as its a place, like a dream, for us who have the urge to explore in our veins. Anybody can jump on WoW and play in that world, but Uru and most of the Myst games feel so much closer to the real world. Thats why i choose Uru over WoW any day of the week. Its like getting the chance to go to other worlds, explore them and enjoy the scenery. I think with UruLive we get the chance to now build a community within these worlds.
