Ok. who has this problem...

I have a toolbar on Firefox that makes the linking in sound when I get mail (made the toolbar in a toolbar maker). Every few minutes, a loud "VROOOMMMMDEDEDEDEDE" comes through because I got mail. It is almost always from Cyan, saying that "someone has posted at a watched post". Why do they automatically assume that you're watching a post? Why can't they put "if you want to watch this post, click here"? I have come to call it...

It's only spam in the most literal sense (spam being unasked for e-mail). It's not advertising or anything. My Book of Atrus Project forum is quite spammy as well... but the spam appears to come from me, so it gets placed in my junk mail box.

What do you want on your computer? the toolbar? I could tinker with the toolbar to make it an Uru based one if you want.

Oh. and guess what was arrived in my inbox when you posted.

just guess...

BTW. I found how to stop it.

Go to profile and move the marker in "Notify me of replies" to "no".

Yeah, it's a matter of changing your personal settings. I have mine set so I get an e-mail only if someone PMs me.

When you changed the "notify me" preference in your profile, you just changed the default behaviour for whether the forum marks a thread as one you're "watching" when you post to it. It doesn't change the state of all the threads it currently thinks you're wanting to be notified about. Go to each of the threads that you're receiving email about... at the bottom of each is a "stop watching this topic." Click it.
