Interesting thought...

Maybe one of the DRC or ResEngs will drop a slip of paper with their login name and password on it somewhere in the cavern...

... then we'll be able to view the DRC's "private" forums.

Maybe. Maybe not. But it's a fun thought...

Unless the DRC do a MUCH better job of updating the info on their web site, it will quickly 'die on the vine'.

The forums were the only real reason to visit the old site.

Just one old fart's opinion.

When I saw the greyed-out tab, I thought "Clever! In-character presentation of DRC-internal forums!" I laughed, but I didn't think more about it.

"I'd bet good money that at some point we'll come across a ResEng's notebook or something that contains a valid username and password"

(and Rev Vader had the same idea.)

I like that idea. I wish I'd thought of it. :)

Out-of-character, I agree that it's unfortunate that Uru forums keep falling off the Net. When I make a long critical/analytical post, I keep a copy on my own website for future reference. But of course the day-to-day discussion far outweighs the long posts, and it's not any less important.

I'd like to say that the right answer is to move to a fan-run forum. But (a) newcomers wouldn't find them, and (b) I don't want to have to read two forums to keep abreast of the community, and (c) there are already how many? Lots.

Hmm... I wasn't thinking the grayed-out button had anything to do with the login; I just thought it was because they hadn't created the forum yet. I did notice that the login box didn't give any confirmation of whether or not you had entered the correct info.

That's disappointing that the forums won't be coming back... hopefully we will get to see the "private" DRC forums somehow as has been commented on in previous posts.

Or maybe those who actually like the DRC and agree with their actions could join their ranks as a Restoration "Worker" or something and hope someday to move up to Restoration Engineer. Workers might get let into a forum and then into a higher level forum...

Why not? Are the DRC above enticing people to join their ranks to help them? Not take control of course, can't see Cate allowing that. But to help. Maybe figure out what Yeesha is doing and how she's doing it and try to stop her.....

(shhh, ghaelen, your conspiracy theories are showing!) Cool

Did anyone who was there for this meeting get pix? I am curious to know if she was wearing a KI/Relto book as she has not in past meetings.

I think RV may be on the right track here.. do bear in mind that Cate was speaking IC. I don't think Cyan put that "Discussion" button up there for no reason.

I agree, what is the reason for going to the DRC site regularly if there is no forum function? We need a good in-cavern message board function and a place for the DRC to post updates.

If no forum, then they'd better get a LOT more active with the "incoming" KI mail...

Disappointing, all in all. If I'd been there I would have told Cate so...

What is WRONG with people? Why don't you fight against this nonsense, or at least do something than sit there like a throw rug? God, had I been there I would have probably needed to be restrained.

I swear, somebody has to do something or you will all die like rotten cabbages.

Well, my impression that is that newcomers generally wont really care. At least at first. The DRC boards were easy to find, and, for whatever reason, a constant hub of negativity. Seems like Cyan's just cutting that loose. Saying, go scare away newbies on your own dime.

Well... the growing pains continue...

Now there's a cracking good idea.

She did have a Relto book and used it to link out. I didn't notice the KI but she does have a KI number.

Err, 'scuse me? More to the point, what's wrong with people that think it perfectly OK to just start an argument with a figure of authority in the middle of the cavern? Not on, not on at all.

The only proper way to get past these problems in life is to tackle them calmly and politely. Having a stnad-up row with Cate in the city will do no good, and will just make any conversasion difficult to follow.

Yes, but if the forums were moderated in a decent fashion then that shouldn't have been an issue, but they weren't.

just a note this is not in response to islanders post.

We are letting Cate walk over us, we shouldn't be letting this happen

This is true, but that doesn't make the attitude:

I've read too many chatlogs where explorers try to out-shout the DRC figure speaking, and it's just a mess, not to mention incredibly rude.

Rudeness won't get you anywhere in life - courtesy will.

It is possible to become part of the story if enough effort is put into it. Or to further explorer the story. We used to do that, particularly back in prologue Sad
