Make sure you are putting in the right ones. There are 2 of them that look a lot alike Wink

If you are just starting the age...
1. Did you Turn on the power?
2. To do that think 'wind power'
3. You may need to release a break to get the gears running.

ps Welcome to the forums!

The device needs power. Is any power being generated?
If not...
Have you looked outside?

What part is confusing? What have you accomplished so far in the cleft?

One out-right spoiler below, not a hint, an answer. Clicker beware.
'wind power' refers to the windmill on the surface, that needs to be turning for there to be power below

Hint:

The power on the cleft need to be turned on.There is something outside the cleft thet you need to unlock.Thet thing give you the power, and the power is turning on everything in the cleft. You just need to understand how to unlock it.

Solution:

Near the imager room there is a kitchen. In the kitchen-a lever.Push the lever,go outside the cleft and move the windmill.Go back again to the cleft and... the code to the imager is somewhere there.

It looks like the power is off. Doesn't the center of that device glow when power is on?

A lot of the ages of Uru need power for the devices to work. The D'ni didn't use many electricity generators like we think of and most of those haven't survived the last couple of decades. Many of the devices that are left run off greener fuels. If the D'ni could use a technology that didn't require vast resources to run, then they used that. Some examples found so far include steam or geothermal power, water mills, gravity, wind turbines, solar panels and glow in the dark paint.

If you look around the cleft, you should find a couple of non-working devices. If you follow the equipment back, you should find that it hooks into something. Make sure nothing is blocking the equipment from functioning, and then find a way to generate power.

There is a shaft in one of the rooms that comes from the surface. It's connected to a grinding wheel.

Make sure nothing is keeping the shaft from turning.

Unlock the shaft by pressing the button in front of it.

Then go outside, find the windmill, and push on the handle, walking around the windmill, until the handle lifts and locks into place, and the windmill continues rotating on it's own.

Find more of 'em.

If you're having trouble finding them, go talk to Zandi (the guy sitting by the trailer). He'll give you some hints.

I'm going to sound very cynical here. But look around and find out for yourself. You'll find that this game for the most part requires some critical thinking ability. If something doesn't have power, find out how to turn on the power. If yeesha tells you to go find the markers. Go find more markers. Its not rocket science - but it requires a little effort and a lot of observation on your part.

Also, don't rush it. Take the time you need to get the feel of the game, otherwise you'll always be asking for help and that's no fun. You're doing the most interesting part of the game: discovering new worlds and solving puzzles. Take time to enjoy it instead of just solving the puzzles quickly.
