Post Posted: Sat Apr 21, 2007 5:49 am — Post subject: New Standalone Portal Calculator for all 4 pods

I've been doing some programming on a free afternoon and ended up writing a little standalone portal time calculator that shows the upcoming times for all 4 portals in the local timezone and in UTC.

I think it turned out pretty nice, so I've put it up for download:
http://files.hbyte.net/uru/PortalCalc4.exe

I hope it's useful.

I believe that is a MS Windows download to read some files. I had to download it on my computer.

mmmh ... I hope you asked for permission to release the tool. I've been working on a tool for several months and it has a portal predictor for about a month. I've not yet get the permission from Cyan to release the tool and I'm very frustrated about it.

Tiran, I doubt very seriously you'd need someone's permission for something like that. It's nice to ask, I'm sure, but it's not like it's copywritten material. It's just a calculator. Plus, it's free. Now if you wanted to charge for it you'd definitely want to check with Cyan about that.

That's your opinion Smile
Now explain me why Cyan has asked me *not* to release the tool until I've received permission from them?

My program isn't free, it's open source. Smile

Because, from what I've heard, your tool isn't just a portal calculator, but also a lot of other things that specifically use the IP of Cyan.

This, however, is simply a calculator to calculate what could be seen as arbitry times. I could easily be wrong, but I doubt very much that there'd be a problem.
