On a different note, notice on the calender on the ground you see 3 swirls on it starting near this month...wonder what they mean....

Hmm, the swirls appear to have a similar shape to the Pod portals. Maybe that's a hint to where those months' sparklies will be?

I would think that as well but i havent gotten this months sparklie yet,
so it would have been before this month or at this month.

Those spirals, supposedly or coincidentally aligned with June (sorta), July and August, are like the spirals in the Garden ages not just because they are spirals, but because each is progressively less "spiraled," Like how the spiral cloths have seven "stages," this looks like three of those stages.

But... I'd be more included to think that it was a coincidence, not just the similarity to the Spiral journey, but also it's alignment with the next three months. To me it's just an awkwardly placed portion of the center design, and no more.

I think they simply represent stars as part of the the central graphic -- sun, moon, and stars.

That's why we have a spoiler section, Artic.

And joaopedro used spoiler tags as well.

I think that's more than enough spoiler protection. No one will stumble upon the information accidentally... They would have to 1) enter the spoiler section of the forums, 2) click on the discussion thread, and 3) click on the spoiler tag.

If someone was to do all three, I'd think they weren't that interested in remaining unspoiled.

Rolling Eyes My main concern was not about spoilers but about the "time aspect" and about the speed at which Cyan
is almost "ordered/pushed" to come out with new stuff.

Didn't anyone notice the same three curlie-ques on the floor in April?

Of course it was hard to see in March (it was underwater).

Well, I never make any comments of the "hurry, Cyan! I need more content!!" kind.
Some people are often away from their computers when new stuff happens, and some of them like to know beforehand of things like this, so I posted it...

I've read this four times, and it still doesn't make sense.

Someone posts a spoiler (in tags on the right board), and you think they're hurrying Cyan along?

Nonsensical.

Okay, here's an observation which is not about spoiler etiquette:

When you get a spark, the candle appears in your Relto instantly. It's not like a green page, which only takes effect when the Relto is empty. Someone standing on your Relto island can see it appear.

(It just pops in, no fancy effect.)

Interesting...rather unusual placement to say the least. Well, no more unusual than the use of a Bahro stone as a "shortcut" to the end of the "To D'ni" expansion.

I'm kinda curious about those swirlies as well...though they DO seem to be placed in the same area as when summertime occurs.

Here are some possible ways in which this might apply:

10. Explorer calls for content.
20. Cyan throws explorer a bone.
30. Explorer camps out in cavern & devours bone before it hits the floor
40. Goto 10

10a. Explorer calls for content.
20a. Cyan throws explorer a bone.
30a. Explorer scans board for bone sighting.
40a. Explorer devours bone before it even occurs to others to look for it.
50. Explorer thinks finding it was too easy.
60. Explorer wants another bone.
70. Goto 10a.

When I played the first Myst game, I didn't know about internet walkthroughs. I spent many hours on the game. I even made a map for the submarine, once I realized that I needed to do it twice. Many years later, I found out there was a simple trick to the thing. With URU, the solution to a puzzle, or location of anything new is usually reported before the day is even over. Because of human nature, we often choose the path of least resistance. Why would we drive to Starbuck's, if a coffee machine full of Folger's is sitting right next to us.

Now, I wasn't surprised, when I clicked the tag, and saw that the entire solution was spelled out. The short nature of the thread indicated that everything would be spoiled then & there. Unlike the spoiler that announced the Descent link in the first place that had a little more fanfare. I could tell that one would be a more diplomatic hint. I do realize that one does need to be to the point & concise. Otherwise one won't get full credit for finding it first. If you are too cryptic with hints, then another gets the glory.

Spoilers aren't evil in themself. The problem that I see is that it is very difficult to release new content, when every subtle detail is instantly spelled out, the instant it becomes available in the cavern. Have you ever seen the "game" called "PYST"? In that game, the MYST dock is depicted with grafitti that says, "secret door Duh!" When a puzzle is solved as soon as it's presented, then it can create pressure for Cyan to release something else, since the content that they just released is already considered old content. Another thing to consider: As spoiler sensitive as people can be, you never can be absolutely certain what lies behind the spoiler tag. It could be anything from a subtle hint to the solution that you didn't quite want. I should also point out that this is a spoiler & hint thread. Maybe an explorer that clicks a spoiler tag is legally guilty under spoiler code, but maybe that explorer only wanted a hint.

This does not address the neccessity for nor the evils of spoilers. It may not even apply in this case. However, I think it does address a possible scenario in which a spoiler can put pressure on Cyan.

Just a thought

Yes, i know, but what are they actually for?

No idea, we'll probably have to wait untill the end of the year to find out

My theory is that on New Years Eve they all explode into a firework display Laughing
