Good day,

While reading this thread an idea came to mind, an idea of wich I`m not sure it`s even possible but you never know.
So in sharing it maybe someone can do something with the idea or maybe not :roll:

There`s Myst, riven etc. for the Ipad/pod etc etc.

Why not convert MOUL to android, IOS or something like that, people will be able to play it on the go, you`ll reach a much bigger audience and have way more donations.

Wich makes the meter overload to Cavcon 5!!!!! for months to go.

Don`t know if it`s possible but I think someone with a certain degree of programming skills could come a long way.

The fundamental problem with that idea is that the MOULa client is heavily dependant on Windows libraries (like DirectX) which makes porting it to any other platform "challenging" - there isn't even a (native) Mac port or a Linux port at this point. Add to that the fact that any significant effort towards a port will have to come from fan developers working in their spare time then any Android or iOS port would seem like a very distant prospect, assuming it is even possible.

I'm finding it harder and harder to contribute with the constant outages...but then I remember when we didn't have this opportunity at all...'SO' I donate again with hopes that the server issues will not cause the Cavcon to dwindle so much in the future....

Not just the outages but the 'new player accounts' problem and three years of numbingly slow progress.

The irony is, we're running into donor fatigue and the risk of MOULa closing, just when things have a shot at getting better.

I'm working hard on Sevkor but wondering whether there'll be funding left to implement it by the time I'm done.

It's a discouraging thought but I haven't yet given up hope of things working out.

We've been down this road before... well, really the same road for a very long time. It's had its twists and turns and it often seems to be mostly uphill and yes, we've lost people to fatigue along the way, but there are also a lot of diehards who refuse to give up until we've reached the goal - player created content on MOULa. Hang in there, Matt. It's creators like you and the coders that give us all hope and a reason to keep paying for the road. :)

I don't deny the "donor fatigue" angle, but I'm also sure that big factor here is that we haven't actually had any kind of update on MOULa in almost a year now. No-one's fault, that's just the way things worked out. But I'm also sure that getting fan content into MOULa will be a bigger boost for it (and for donations) that any amount of fan fixes to the client code. That's not to devalue those code fixes, but I expect that for a lot of people who don't follow the technical angles they'll probably seem a bit like fiddling around the edges. New content is much more of an "in your face" update that everyone can see.

Let's not forget the general so called financial "crisis". Life gets more expensive everywhere by the day, work gets less paid, and you just have to choose your priorities a little more strictly than you thought. :?

I wouldn't worry much, at least not just yet, Moula had been fully functional for two years under Cavcon 2 when everyone thought it was 4. So nothing has changed much, I think..
