The railings around the waterfront have two patterns in the metalwork. The first and most common is a depiction of the Arch of Kerath, and the second is another design which I do not recognize, but which might be a representation of the vanished Steward's House. This railing is found on the gates of the stalagmite, the railings inside the stalagmite, and the railings of the short walkway on the other side of the stalagmite.
It's mentioned in The Book of Atrus; here's that portion of the book on Google Books.
And, the webpage Tales of the D'ni: Places has a mention in the list:Quote:
Steward's House: A prominent architectural structure at the water front, this is a house where trading of goods took place. The building was constructed of 15 marble pillars supporting a huge dome. This building sustained substantial damage with the fall of D'ni.
