There was no notification that the site was going away so I suspect either the server or the local ISP service went down. The folks running it may simply be away for the holidays and can't do anything about it right now.

In the new year I am going to put on the Guild Of Sleepers site & forum as much of the info I can think of that was on the Guild of Greeters site. We already have a lot of useful info, so it is only natural to add to it. I have avoided doing this up until now so as not to compete with the Guild Of Greeters, but as their site is at best unreliable, and at worst gone, I feel it necessary to ensure this information is not lost.

Great news Alien.

I am sure the info will be needed from even the older players like myself.

Your site has always been filled with the best info.

@Alien: Yeah, I keep a copy of much of their stuff stashed away in the GoMe archive, just in case.

How I'd get permission to repost their stuff if the site was ever offline irrevocably is quite another matter entirely.... :|

That is too bad about the GOG website. As a new player I used hints provided there for Minkata, some marker missions, and the sparklies.

Found something I didn't know on your website though. I didn't know about sharing the bahro stones.

Eh, the site will likely be back up in the few days, I'm guessin'...Tech/Jade/dadguy and the other Greeters are likely just on holiday break. Just have to be patient and hope for the best.

That was written before Cyan removed the ability to share Bahro stones, so it might be out of date now. I will check to see if any Bahro stones can be shared.

You'll find information on which Bahro stones can or cannot be shared here: Linky

Trying to hit the moving target of what each sharable object did made it nearly impossible to keep a accurate list. At one point, the tablet that links to the neighborhood high balcony was completely irrational. If you shared it, it would send the people to your neighborhood but if you used it, you ended up in a random neighborhood, some of which were private and not very happy when uninvited guests dropped in.
I think the GOG simply gave up trying to make sense of the sharing and linking rules out of simple frustration.

The state that a site of GoG cannot read for a long time continues. :?
Because there was the page that I relied on to me, it is inconvenience that I cannot read it. :(
I want to know the place with CGZM.
There was a detailed list in GoG.

I hope that I recover early.

There are a couple of lists in this MO:UL thread.

Great Zero calibration marker mission guide!

It's bad tidings when sites with useful Info disappear. Might it be that the people
behind them finally have lost interest for the Myst Universe or perhaps some other
more trivial reasons. But everything costs and nothing is ever "free".

But it was really bad that MYSTlore packed in. GoGreeters was a great resource
too! Really sad if both are gone for good... a Sign of the Times?

All I can say is there could be several different reasons the site is down.

Since the site runs on a privately owned server in a residential location using the same internet services we have at home, as well as being built using licensed ( not for free) software, any one of the above could be a factor.

The long outage a couple of months ago involved the owners of the site relocating halfway across the country and getting everything unpacked, set up, and connected back to the internet. Since then, the site has been up and down like a yoyo. My guess is that either there is a problem with the physical server HW or the ISP service they had to use has a lot of problems.

The problem could be that the license (which the owner pays out of pocket) for the website SW might have expired and I'm reasonably sure the owner would not operate without a valid license.

In any case, the site will either come back or not. I'm not going to mope or whine or blame the GoG for not being able keep it going for more than a decade.
