Since these forums run on outdated software, MOULa should do that too.
Should we be worried about closing MOULa down too?

It's a fair question but I think MOULa is "safer" in that regard. The client has been fairly resilient to changes in Windows over the years (I won't try to comment on Mac OS) and I think that what the server itself needs is fairly undemanding.

The forums are a bit trickier: The forum software itself (phpBB) has changed a bit since the version currently used here was introduced and the forum styling that we see here and on the Cyan forums won't work properly on newer versions of that software without a fair bit of work to update or replace it and that also breaks some customisations, like the "spoiler" tags. Aside from that, the newest forum software in turn relies on newer versions of other software, such as PHP, than those in use, so you end up with a whole heap of things that all need updated and it just gets to be more work than anyone wants to take on. Add to that, I guess Cyan want to channel their relatively sparse resources to a smaller number of services that don't need as much maintenance and the forums weren't getting nearly as much use as they once did.
