Maybe there will be like in the Gahreesen Stained Glass Contest 3 winners. So there's a chance for everyone.

The Gahreesen stained glasses were designed by explorers (Aloys, Beefo laRue and Greg Dean) and physically made by Engberg using D'ni extrusion technology.

The Eder Tsogal stained glasses are of D'ni origin and just restored by explorers.

An event would require content from the developers. (But now we're just arguing semantics.)

That said, just because someone has something that is pretty doesn't mean that's it, everyone should just go home. Remember, Gahreesen's got SEVERAL stained glass panels to represent it, so you can be one of the others, assuming Cyan picks (hey, picking implies contest!) more than one.

Something notable:
Mr. Engberg said that you are allowed to send multiple designs. :)

Soooooo.... has anyone asked Mr. Engberg if we can see/have some of the discovered pieces to work with?

Tweek should just post some tips on how he created his design and got those great effects in his picture ;) Then we can all try to do better.

Yeah. So, if Tweek came up with that great piece within mere hours after the announcement, imagine what he will do with a month to work on it! ;)

I'm going to take a shot at it anyway. If nothing else, it will help me practice a couple of skills with Paint Shop Pro, so it won't be a total loss for me. But, I'm glad we have a month, because I can't just snap them out like Tweek does.

(Hey, does Fealinquin know about this yet? He can certainly give Tweek a run for his money! :D)

GREAT JOB TWEEK !

One question:
I'm a stained glass artist ( believe it or not ), but a don't have a software to make a simulation as convincing and realistic as yours for the purpose of the game. In terms of lead lines embossing etc. I only know the Dragonfly software and it's sucks.

So can you tel me (us ) which software do you use pleeeeeease...

You can PM me if you want. Thanks I apperciate

EDIT: OK THANKS TWEEK FOR THE TUTORIAL AND YOUR GENEROSITY"
(see below)

Now that you set the standarized procedure, LET'S GET BUSY.

If DRC found fragments of a Stained Glass piece.. OK THEN COOL!

So they should provide us these fragments IN-GAME SOMEWHERE ON DISPLAY!!!! (IC)
AN ATTACH A FILE on their website (OOC)

SUGGESTION. IT COULD BE LIKE PUZZLE HALF DONE AND WE INVENTE WHAT'S MISSING...

Come on DRC, make it convincing and credible (IC)
Come on Cyan. Get this game starting with these creative ideas of yours!!!! (OCC)

The DRC website, wich listed this project, is IC. It's not really necessary to have them in the game, the result WILL be displayed in the game.

Anyways, I've just tried some things... ah man... I really need practice! Can't believe how Tweek did that so fast and so well! :P I have some ideas... but to transfer those ideas to some program.... is quite difficult! :P

It's a great idea from the DRC. :)

Thanks, yeah definatly different idea's leads to different work, take the First Month shirt, his design was great.

To answer some questions, I use Photoshop 7 for my work. I've been using photoshop for a fair few years now and know my way around it pretty well so yeah doesn't take me to long to do what I want.

I sketched out the design, then started drawing the frame, having done that I opened a picture of Tsogahl, grabbed a bunch of colours I wanted to use and tweaked them slightly then started colouring in the blocks on a new layer underneath the frame.
Having done that I opened some grunge textures and converted them into paint brushes and painted a layer of grunge on the window in black, (added a top coat of cracks). I duplicated this layer 3 times, one layer I inverted so it was white then set the layer to overlay, then mirrored it. The second I just set to overlay, and the third I started brushing out sections of grime to "clean the window up" a bit. I then adjusted all the opacity levels on the layers until I felt it looked right. I rendered a lightsource in the center using "omni" in the options, embossed the frame work then applied a plastic wrap filter.

There we go, that's what happened.

Brilliant, Tweek! I love the design. I also use Photoshop professionally and just for fun, and I'm constantly amazed by what it lets me do.

Now that you've set the standard, it should be interesting to see the other submissions. Maybe I'll get ambitious and give it a shot myself.

Again, great work.

I wouldn't discount anyone's idea, just because they can't make it look all 'stained glassy' like Tweek's. It's entirely possible that the one that catches Cyan's eye will be a simple line drawing with colour that they can model themselves.

Well, here's a low-res version of my window so far...
I've never done anything like this before, so I'm quite happy with the result I have now. It can't match Tweek's of course. :P

I have Photoshop 6 and I was still thinking about giving it a shot too. I think Tweek's image gives a great example and I am glad he posted it. I (and others) now have a frame of reference as to what may be accomplished.
