Great work guys! :)

Some of you are talking about a contest.
But the DRC calls it a project.
See post RAWA: http://forums.drcsite.org/viewtopic.php ... ght=#31362
and the Official announcement: http://www.drcsite.org/explr_project.php
So please let us respect this and call your work in the future: Project.
The DRC ask us explorers to make a contribution to this restoration project.
Thanks.

I have an idea for this that I am really attached to, but it involves the "journey" part and is inspired by Riven.... I see most of you guys are trying to make it without involving the puzzle, but I really wanna involve the puzzle.... I'm guessing that would be wrong. :? Any word on this from the DRC? Does it have to be pre-puzzle?

The DRC have stated that they found the stained glass and wish for us to restore them. Where are the originals? Perhaps if we could see what is there already then we would have a better idea of how to stay true to the original. Otherwise we are creating, not re-creating them.

Also, someone here mentioned a tutorial for this, where might I find that? I believe it was mentioned as Tweek's doing.

I am completely psyched about this, I really like to see the explorers being involved in the proc ess.

The DRC hasn't really laid down any hard rules for this .... Project. I'd say go with whatever you want. If you really want to get in and think your idea is questionable.. have a backup.

I've been remixing my texture..
I ditched the weird grunge, wavy texture, and bevel, and went for a nicer, smoother window that was more suited to being a flat texture... it's got a little grain, and I'm playing with the idea of a bit of rust...

The window so far:

any comments? Is it an improvement?

I preferred it when it was more clean-looking. Now it just looks like you've got globs of dirt stuck to it. Change the color back to black.

hmm.. ok.. (done) but if you look, at textures from uru, you notice that they don't do clean.. lots of nicks cracks, corrosion, dirt and general gunk. I think it would look out of place. even the gahreesen windows from the hood have rust and stuff on them, and according to canon they were made brand new on the D'ni extruders by the DRC a few years ago.

Well, just spent my day doing my entry for the contest, and it takes a little more creative license than the fine work of Tweek, but is hopefully worthy of the contest... you can take a peak at here: click here.

I used wood and iron for the braces rather than black rod look... 8)

enjoy the ride, earthwiz....

Nice -- however, the D'ni text is off. You wrote [th][s][o][g][h][ah][l]. It should be [ts][o][g][ah][l]. or Togal in D'ni font.

Thanks Gadren, I updated it:

Wow, that's lovely. It reminds me of a quilt.

It really is a shame that noone has cleaned those. They do look as dirty as the older ones, in fact I thought they were original at first.

It's page 2 of this topic I think. It's the finer points of getting the illumination specifically. It's really good, for Photoshop 7, but it works just as well with CS2 as I found out.

Ok, for me, I need to know what Tsogahl was for, to really make my interpretation of the stained glass design. Anyone give me some idea? Or does the DRC just want us to make it up?

"Make it up" does seem to be the official OOC interpretation of what the DRC has said.

Are we having fun yet? :P

To tell the truth I keep getting my stories mixed up: where in the Yeesaha is a Bahro when you need a good cry... or scream for that matter!

Here is my final edit of entry: click here to view.

For me it was the mauve colors and the spiral journey that were significant about both Sister ages.... mine is an unlit version of he backdrop. I'm working on a lighted version of an other type, but not sure how many entries we can send? Anyone know? I've read the site but not much details about updating and how many entries, etc....

thanks, earthwiz

I'm pretty sure you can send as many as you want. They'll just pick the best.

Here's mine. A work in progress...

Image

The white portions are meant to be transparent,
and the blue portions are meant to be semi-transparent, but alas, this chaepo image hosting site iI used doesn't support transparency (and my website's FTP is down, just my luck).

EDIT: Got access to my site's FTP... updated image...

This one has a little hidden meaning to it, which is not hard to pick up on once you've visited the age.

Maybe I can get feedback on my execution of that concept... :)

Eder Tsogahl was one of the garden Ages, probably written during the Garden Binge of the 8100's DE (considering that it uses the same style of architecture as Eder Kemo and Eder Delin). "Eder" is a D'ni word meaning "rest", and all of the eder Ages were simply places for the common folk to relax and contemplate.

Does that give you the information you were looking for, or did I misunderstand your question?
